Looking to buy a Tacoma
Looking at Tacoma's after owning a Ranger and Nissan p-up. Interested in hearing from the group about the 2.7L 4 cyl engine. How well does it handle the demands of hauling materials. With a payload of around 1300 lbs, can get it handle the challenge? Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

well with you being within 80 pounds of max load for a regular cab ( not a double or access)
i think you know how it is going to handle . like any other truck with max load ;-D now if your are talking about a normal truck i think you would find it responsive, comfortable and comes stock with most of the options and extras that the ranger had come standard. i looked through the maintenance requirements on the 4 and for the first 100K miles well just oil and filter and cabin air filter. it takes plugs after 100k , no lube points. just oil, filter, tire rotation every 5 k miles the 6 does require a bit more service. i got mine for trouble free service during it's extended lifetime with normal cargo and not seeing what the max i can haul around is and it meets all i require and gets pretty good millage, tight body. i would say go to a dealer and drive one there are several cab styles, 4 or 6, auto or stick, 2 and 4 wheel drive so about anything you want they have it ;-D just my opinion |

I can say that Phantom is spot on, but i would have no reservations getting a I-4 taco. This is a big decision, and a lot of money, take your time, enjoy the research, it's a buyers market, the ball is in your court, don't think of what will work now, but what you might need in the future, kids? dogs? wife? GF ? maybe both wife and GF
