Help me decide!!

Buying today a 2010 Tacoma double cab sport or '09 Ford f150 xlt supercrew.
Both basically same price. I don't tow or anything. Ford has lots of room but do I really want a full size?
Drive two kids a lot so will I miss having room in back?

HELP!

 

get the tacoma, you wont be disappointed.
the backseats in a double cab have plenty of room.

i just came from a full size truck.

 

get the tacoma please. I just got rid of a FX4 so i could get a TRD Off Road and ill never go back to a full size truck. You will be happy that you did buy the tacoma instead of the F150.

 

I feel like this is a silly question to ask in a Tacoma forum....

 

The new F150 is a very nice truck, but I think you will probably be happier with the Tacoma. JMO.

im 6'1" and 230lbs. and have ridden in the back of my dc and it is comfortable for me so i think it should be fine for you kids. go with the taco 100% imo.

My buddy is 6' 5'' and he rides in the back seat no biggie. The Tacoma is more reliable and a lil more fuel effecient...go w/ the 4 door TRD O/R! You'll thank us later

 

I sold my 05 F150 FX4 supercrew so I could buy my 09 Tacoma. The F150 is a pig on gas and way too big, unless you really need the big truck. Go with the Tacoma. In the long run, the Tacoma will also save you money in gas and resale value.

 

How old or what size are your kids?

I have a 2 yr old in a car seat. She fits fine in the back seat but her feet do hit the front seat (passenger side). Here is a picture of the seat installed:



This is a rather large car seat and I think she will fit much better when she is in a booster. I have had 5 adults in my truck and it was not a problem. The F150 Access cab is not bigger than the Tacoma Double cab. The F150 Supercab is too freaking big for my taste!

Get the Tacoma. I have bitched on this forum about the minor gripes -- the transmission shifting to first when it doesn't need to around town and such -- but I just back from four trips back and forth to northern NM while trying to mix work and hunting. Got 22.5 mpg on the highway, got 19.5 towing my trailer. Hauled all my crap plus the trailer with no sagging or bottoming. Handled great in the mud. In daily living, the rear seat has been fine for adults or kids with car seats, can fit two car seats plus a full sized person in the back with no problem (rare -- don't try it in a 4-runner). This is possible because the wheel wells are behind the cabin and don't intrude into rear seat hiproom. There is a BIG difference in fuel economy, real world 15 vs. 20, and everyday livability -- the big trucks are much more hassle to park and maneuver around town. On the rare occasion that you need more bed space, use a trailer. The Tacoma has plenty of power: it's not set up to jump off the line if you just look at the gas pedal, but when I have mashed the pedal to pass while hauling my trailer, it accelerates just fine. I'm happy with mine and don't really anything else on the market that matches it.
