AMSOIL now makes a transmission fluid that is combatible to the Toyota WS Transmission Fluid the auto trans in many of Toyota's cars and trucks use. It's called

AMSOIL Synthetic Low Viscosity Universal Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATL)

    http://www.amsoil.com/storefront/atl.aspx

Good thing as I was needing to do my first flush and fill on my trans and I have had great experience with another product, AMSOIL ATF fluid, in previous vehicles. I had the flush/fill done on my auto trans (2007 Tacoma, 4.0LV6, 5 spd Auto trans) last week. It took 17.75 (18) quarts. I used the new AMSOIL ATL mentioned above. Trans runs perfectly after the flush/fill. as I knew it would. I had to get it done at an independent shop (Goss's Garage) as my local dealer wouldn't do the flush if the Toyota WS wasn't being used (Toyota says they can't use anything else, nothing else is compatible.....) I'm happy to prove them wrong.

18 quarts seems rather much.... From what I've constantly read its about 12

Is it approved by Toyota or just by Amsoil?

There is always something out there that is compatible with the authentic. I would be very careful with just adding anything especially with the transmission. I ended up getting the Toyota brand just for peace of mind and left it at that.
