I don't mind the electronic transfer case control, so long as it works. Mine has been working fine so far. I don't care about the look of it, I just kind of prefer having manual control over it.

Someone mentioned old school exterior locking hubs. That sure as hell is one thing I will never miss. I have a friend who special ordered his F-250 with those. He thinks it will last longer that way. I point out to him what a pain in the ass it is every single time we have to stop and get out just so he can engage his 4WD.

Top of my list is better fuel efficiency and a less sensitive ABS. I like the body style the way it is. I could go for paint that doesn't chip quite so easily. Heated side mirrors would be nice. Sometimes I wish instead of a stationary center console it had a sort of seat there with a back that folded down to be used as an arm rest/container. That would make it easier if you need to slide across to the other side of the truck without getting out, or I suppose if you wanted to lay down in the cab.

Other than that, I can't think of anything else I'd change.

The new 4Runner has lots of new angles, some of which I like and others I don't. The front is nice - sharp looking headlights with a nice, aggressive angle and a tough looking grille but the foglights look like an afterthought.

Unfortunately the wheel wells and fenders are squared off.. this seems to be a coming trend (Chevy trucks have it now, GMC Terrain has this to a massive amount). Just not my style... It's interesting that the seam over the fender bulge doesn't compliment the seam across the doors and the even seem to overlap a little bit. Meh... not my thing, apparently.

Agreed. I think the new Runners are sweet and if the next gen Taco's have a similar design theme there may be one parked in my driveway.

I check periodically to see if there is any update on the 3rd generation as it seems it is about due, but nothing yet. I was getting a service done on my Frontier today and asked the dealer if Nissan had anything up there sleeve, no of course... Seems that Nissan and Toyota follow eachother with trucks (midsize at least) and if one changes so should the other. No such luck.

Well I want better brakes! Four wheel disc standard! A small v8 would be cool also! Better stereo with navigation!

the current (well, old) 4runner does not look at all like the tacoma, I don't know why the next tacoma would look like the 4 runner...

It's 2010. 4 wheel disc brakes should be standard on EVERY car and truck made. JMO.

    TURBO-DIESEL!

    Four wheel disc brakes.

More modular dash for aftermarket stereo systems, to include an in dash AUX port for mp3/iPod.

my v6 has plenty of power, I just want better MPG! maybe they should use the hilux engine
and you could get a better stereo on your own for alot cheaper, the dealer would rape on an in dash navigation system.

Turbo-diesel would take care of the MPG issue, give you the roughly the same amount of power, but TONS more torque!

Well I hate to say it but I really considered trading my truck on a new tundra! I like my truck but when it comes to towing it falls way short of the big truck! And the tundra is only around 4 grand more. the 5.7 gets almost as good of fuel economy as the 4.0!!!! WTF

The new 4-runner looks like it's in disguise. :spy:

Like it has extra body panels installed to mask its true identity.

    Not feeling it...

The first gen tacoma was the best truck ever made. Toyota fucked up changing it. They should have just beefed it up a smidge and maybe made it about 15% larger.
If they are smart they will go back to its roots.
