    Just gettin started
With the new 4runner on the doorstep stating "going back to it's roots" What will that mean for the next Taco? Any thoughts? Maybe an actual shifter to engage 4 wheel instead of a switch. I just hope they don't Butcher the current look.

Why do some people want a manual lever for 4wd so bad? I'll admit it looks cool to have them but its like asking for roll down windows when you already have power windows because the roller looks cool...

Our Silverado's 4x4 lever gets stuck and you have to have it just right for the 4wd to engage and one time it froze all together and had to go to the shop, meanwhile our 92 blazer's switch has never failed.

I remember back in the early 90s a switch was a pricey option over a lever.

Would they still have the option of on the fly 4Hi converstion while driving if you had the level?

    Cause if not fuck it.

However I did have a look at a Ford 350 recently, and they have the option to lock the hubs on the outside oldschool style from Auto to Lock.

I thought that was pretty cool if ghetto.

Dude those are Chevy's, not Toyotas. Toyota makes shifters that work, but I do agree, pushing a button is a lot easier.

I'd like to see the following:

    1. Better fuel efficiency! Toyota should be the front runner in this department.
    2. Quieter cab. The 2009 Access cab has more wind noise then my 91 Toyota.
    3. CRAWL
    4. The ability to put a car seat in the middle of the rear seats, even the bigger car seats.
    5. The center console that allows for a a generic or standard in-dash NAV, so it's easy to add a 3rd part NAV
    6. A mounting system on the right side of the console for radios, personal electronics, etc. I'm thinking of a base for 3rd parties or moddies to attach mounting brackets for different hardware.
    7. Some other color options.

I'm assuming that they will fix all the other none issues. A truck is a tool and should be easily modifiable as the user needs.

I wonder what will happen on January 1, 2013.

Lots of people are going to feel dumb.

Even the levers have on the fly 4WD. At least my 98 did. And it worked above 60 MPH unlike my new switch that beeps at me!! Well at least when it less than 230k on it.

I'd bet there is a very good chance it will look similar to the new 4Runner

I'm pretty sure that I read the new 4runners do not have the V-8 option, I bet that means there is no chance the Tacoma will :(.
