Dustproofing tailgate with topper?

So I have a topper on the truck and travel gravel roads. I got some really good auto weatherstripping and sealed up the tailgate, but nothing wants to stick to the plastic. Looke great after it was done but sure didn't stick for long.

Any Ideas?

BTW- These plastic boxes sure have a myriad of drain holes all over that sure do suck the dust in. I als have to spend some time wth the silicone gun to plug them.

 

I had the same problem...at the top of the tail gate there's a around a 4" area that is open on each side. When wheeling on dusty roads the dust got sucked into the bed and canopy. I used the tape-on weather stripping and secured it to the sides of the taillights to close up the gaps. So far it's held up great.

 

can you give a source and profile of the weatherstripping?

i'd rather buy a roll of profiled weatherstripping and proper adhesive than "big box" self stick square stuff.

Do a search and you can find plenty of tailgate seals for around $30. Most tonneau and cap installers have them.

 

i've come up with about 4 different companies. all seem to be self adhesive and i'm not sure that is the most reliable as opposed to a tube of dedicated glue.

would anyone care to share:

1. manufacturer of their dust weatherstripping

2. profile and source of their dust weatherstripping

3. manufacturer of the adhesive used (provided the weatherstripping was not "self-stick)
