Visor Sticker Removal?

Has anyone removed their warning stickers off of the visors? It looks like ill rip the fabric if I try to remove it.

I think that they are silk-screened on. Maybe some chemical can remove them but would probably remove most of the visor too. I have thought about using some type of vinyl coloring spray to cover them though.

Hi there "Visor sticker haters" (I'm the grandaddy of them all) There is a good tutorial on Tundra solutions but basically.....
1. Take sunvisors off-2 screws
2. Use steam iron or clothes steamer over a damp towel to steam off stickers. It takes a while to get them loose enough to peel off but by picking at the corner you can get a grip on the sticker and peel it off in one piece.(sort of like stipping vinyl wallpaper)
3. use 3M adhesive remover spray to soak the adhesive. You can place a damp towel over the spot to keep the 3M from evaporating too fast or just keep wetting it down. I then used a putty knife held at right angles to the visor and scraped back and forth lengthwise over the adhesive area.Wipe the area with a terry face cloth frequently-this picks up the adhesive. I finished up by wetting it down again with the 3M and brushing the adhesive with a BRASS BRISTLED DETAIL BRUSH and wiped it with the facecloth.
I know...that visor cloth doesn't look too tough but it is and if you scrub enough you will get all the glue off. I did my 07 about 3 months after I got it so there wasn't much of a "shadow" where the sticker was and this has faded to nothing since then. I was pretty nervous about doing this but I couldn't stand those butt-ugly things looking down at me! I was REALLY pleased with the results.
Total time- about 1 hr.
Cost-$8 for the 3M(plus one new facecloth when the wife freaked-out)
Oh yah- don't smoke when you use that 3M ...it blows up real good!!!!

Bad Sticker

In an fit of insanity, I tried to pull off the sticker before researching the subject.

About 1/3 of it pulled off without too much trouble. But the remaining 2/3 was stubborn and I was left with a tattered edge...

Then I joined this forum and since learned about the iron on damp towel technique.

I tried this and the rest of the sticker came off, but left the adhesive where the final 2/3 was, so now I have a shadow of adhesive that looks almost as bad as the tattered sticker...

Where does one find this 3M adhesive remover?

I'm thinking of just buying a new visor. When my Taco was delivered, the clear plastic registration pocket had a stretch in it- as if someone put their fat finger in it.

If I can remove the adhesive, I might keep the visor, but if I can't get the 3m product, I'll just buy a new visor.

Anyone know what the cost of a new visor is?

Research

Gray Right - Access cab - Access cab05-07 $45.56 $32.32 Gray

Mine are of the vinyl type .. will the steam iron work? I tried a hair dryer (wife's ... not mine) in the cab and it didn't work.

40-50 bucks isn't to bad...
Would still like to find teh 3M remover I hear talked about. see if that works. but if the remover costs $10, might just get a new visor.

Lesson learned.

Try GOOP hand cleaner on the remaining adhesive.

I had luck with that on my 99's visors.

The 3M spray is available at auto body supply shops-just phone and ask if they carry 3M.
As for the vinyl visors -this steam method won't work.
The 3m (or goof off or goop or acetone) will work on the cloth ones but it's gonna take some elbow-grease...just keep putting more on and scrape or brush and wipe off the residue. These products evaporate very quickly so you have to apply them several times while scraping or brushing.Bottom line....it will work if you are careful and keep at it.
Try a blow dryer on the clear plastic pocket- it should shrink back to normal when it cools off - again -be careful, take it slow and don't melt it or you will be looking for a new visor which will probably have stickers on it!!!!

It is hard to do a good job. I did mine and I can still tell there were stickers. I'll try to get a few pics of them without the stickers.

Zippo lighter fluid takes most sticky residue off most non-cloth surfaces better than anything else I've used. I used it to clean up after removing pin stripes from my old Wrangler and it didn't touch the paint at all. Obviously test in inconspicuous area first.
