So I noticed that the stock grill on my '05 is starting to fade pretty badly. I was wondering if there is a write up on painting just the black insert part of the stock grill. I tried the search function but all I could find were a million and 1 satoshi mod threads. I have done the BHLM so I can get the grill off just fine. I was wondering if there were any suggestions as far as what paint to use, what grit sandpaper, stuff along those lines. Any suggestions would be helpful.

depending on how bad the fade is i'd try "Back to Black" first. It may be a Mother's product...can't remember.

Mother's Back To Black might do the trick

Is that something I can get at autozone or o'reilly's or do I need to order it?

Any auto place should have it in their car cleaning/detailing supplies. Even Walmart should carry it.

I've tried the mother's before... didn't seem to do much for me. I didn't try it on the grill so totally worth a shot. Otherwise, probably tape it up and primer/paint it after a light sand 'n clean to promote better adhesion.

maybe some adhesion promoter after a light sanding then paint?

then report on how it works

You can use this paste on any surface on the car and it works pretty well. I have used it and it will bring the "black" back to your plastic and trims peices
