Painting Bushwacker Flares Barcelona Red

Just about everyone I talked to thought that I should leave well enough alone and not paint the Bushmaster flares.

I had no problems with the look of the black flares, but my 17 inch wheels and tires looked tiny and out of place in the wheel wells.

So I had the flares painted to match the truck and I'm much happier now.

You made the right decision, they look great.

 

Liking that color much better that the stockers.

 

Well a couple of sharp eyed people pointed out that the stock flares were more orange coloured than the fenders. But, you know what? The newly painted flares look orange too at around 10:00 am when the sun is shining directly on them.

What's up with that?

you totally went with the right decision! you were right about the black flares making your wheels and tires look small though, the red looks great!

Excellent decision going red...are those mounted with 3M tape and a couple screws? Did you take them off for the painting, or leave them on?

 

I had to install them first. They require a little bit of fitting. Then I removed them and had the paint shop spray the bolts and washers separately.

Question though, you said you have the Roadsport #7's, but the application chart shows that 5/6 fit the Tacoma. How come you have the #7's instead? Availability? 7's fit better then 5/6's?

Well it does say "NEW! Patented Design" on the package and these are the "Model 7 PRO-FIT TRUCK Splash Guards".

I like it the way it is, but my first choice was XD Revolver chrome wheels.

If I could find a supplier in Canada, I would change the wheels and tires.
