depends how many hours that bike has been through...how hard the previous owner road the bike...if it has been crashed before...

little things like that are very important...even though bikes are made even better than cars...your still investing money...

good luck bro and keep us posted...

Totally depends on who owned it. If it's a cherry, that's not bad. If it's been raced for 3 seasons and put away wet.........!!! At least Yamaha valve trains are durable.

Yeah I would say It's an OK deal, if it wasn't abused and had all oil changes (engine/transmission) on time than yes go for it.
If you really want to make sure, you can take it in to a shop to get a compression test and check up. That can tell a lot about how the engine was taken care of and bike.

Here's a suggested retail value I just got off of Kelly Blue Book:

    2007 Yamaha YZ250F Value

    September 25, 2009

    • 1-Cylinders
    • 4-Stroke
    • 250cc

    Suggested Retail Value $3790

The Kelley Blue Book Suggested Retail Value is representative of dealers' asking prices and is the starting point for negotiation between a consumer and a dealer. This Suggested Retail Value assumes that the unit has been fully reconditioned and is in excellent condition. Mileage/condition and additional equipment may have a substantial impact on the value shown above. This value also takes into account the dealers' profit, costs for advertising, sales commissions and other costs of doing business. The final sale price will likely be less depending on the unit's actual condition, popularity, type of warranty offered and local market conditions.
