What paint did you use to paint the gauges and dash?

i always get it from advanced autoparts. the color is called "intense blue pearl" i'm not sure what the color code is, but it says the name right on the side or bottom of the spraycan. it's made by duplicolor and comes in small and large cans. larges are about $6-$7, and it adhears to anything! i've had various stuff painted for about a year now and there is no fading or chipping...even on the stereo system which takes some abuse.

oops, i forgot you have a red truck...i'd still go with the duplicolor. they have a ton of different shades of red, so you'll find one that matches. i took a picture of the paint on my truck, and made sure that when i printed it out that it matched the actual truck. i brought the picture into the store, and when i found the color that looked like the closest match, i just did a quick spray right on the picture to confirm it was good.

Do you have to take the dash apart and tape the area off or does the individual part surrounding the gauges pop off?

there are three indevidual pieces, the center one is a full circle, and the two sides are semicircles, a small flathead screwdriver or a razorblade will effortlesly pop them right out....no dissasembly of the dash needed, like just about everything else on these truck, they just clop right in.

Nice job! Flawless fit and finish. Where did you get the carbon fiber vinyl? how did you get the fit so nice around the curves? What kind of glue? I am doing the leather armrest and door handle next.

This was the initial setup before I found a 3.5mm keystone jack and usb port.

Sorry for the cellphone pic. but this is what is now.

RJ45 jack for my HAM radio MIC, 3.5mm Stereo jack for my MP3/phone, and a powered USB port for all things obvious.

you can get actual vinyl online, or you can get more of a decal style "sticker" at the autoparts store. for tome of the small jobs, the sticker-like stuff id actually easier. you have to stretch the vinyl, or if you use the decal, you just make a small slice at the corners where it would wrinkle. i used the sticker stuff for those triangle parts on the door. here's a picture of the cuts i had to do. once it's done, you can't actually see them. the flash on the camera just captures them. the parts i cut are hidden when you close the door anyway.
