AAAHH!!! How do I remove oxygen sensor?

Installing the new DTLT headers and I'm removing the stockers. Stuck on the oxygen sensor. It's a 22mm/ 7/8 drive sensor removal socket. I didn't cross thread or anything. But taking out the nut is twisting the wires to the sensor. IDK this shit is pissing me off. But before I flip out and break stuff I need to ask TW. (woo saw) Oh yeah, talked with a tech for toyota too and he said too take it out with the 7/8 socket. But it just seems like the sensor would come out first and then the nut. . . ???

 

Yes, I just released the quick release plug. and the wires will not be twisting now. Damn man! I hate you and (no homo) love you at the same time. Because you saved me. But, you did it with little to no effort and I feel like an idiot. hahah Thanks a million chris!!! The f'd up thing is, that I felt that plug earlier. Thanks again dude! I hate to love ya

Now tomorrow, off to buy new oxygen sensors. I to caution and lubed them up several times with WD40 but still managed to f up the threads. Oh well live n learn.

 

use anti seize when u put em back in

 

Already got some. Figure that's why the stockers broke. Thanks! I need them suckers tomorrow so I can drive my baby. So ima check out the dealership. See if they don't try n rob me on the price.

there a/f sensors, you can get them from trdparts4u for like $140-180, i don't remember the price, but it was cheaper then the $240 my local dealer was gona charge. If possible use a box wrench.

 

i know its too late but a helpful tip is to heat up the manifolds first(by running the car) then loosening

 

I'll see if a machine shop can take a die to em for me first. If not. . . then I guess I'll get taken at the dealership. I doubt I can get em ne where else asap.

 

FML! Not enough threads to repair the sensors. $200 a peice at the dealership. (Those Bastards) I could order online but.... waiting a whole week to drive my taco!?! F no!

 

mine O2 sensors were easy to come out...just used some anti-seize spray...let it sit for like 30 minutes...came out like butter...

didn't mean to rub it in bro...haha

but what I did is sprayed the anti-seize directly after removing the headers...my stock headers were still a little warm to touch...maybe it helped being a little warm...like I mentioned above I let mine site for like 30 minutes before removing the stock sensors...

did you already purchase new O2 sensors?

 

No, not yet. The cheapest I could find was $200 each at the local dealer. Couldn't find em online yet. Damn this has me down. I could of paid around 300 for someone to do the work for me. Stupid mistake! Now the taco's just sitting there. I'm going to start drinking hahah

Yup, Gadget hooked it up right off the bat. 165 each on the sensors with no questions asked. IDK why I didn't think to go to URD right off the bat. Definitely the cheapest place I found for my DTLT's, O2 sim, and now sensors. He also found the cheapest next day air. Great business! I'm goin to URD every time now.
