Lund Genesis Tonneau question

Has anyone installed the Lund Genesis cover on their '05-'07 bed? Was their any cutting of the bedliner involved? What's your opinion of the product?

Lund genesis tonneau cover.........

I bought the Lund Genesis Tonneau Cover from autoanything.com....instructions weren't very clear, but not hard to figure out.installs in about 15-20 minutes.....easier with two people, but the cover is shipped with aluminum clamps and bolts that slide right into the bed rails and will square up the cover once you tighten them down....absolutely NO CUTTING OR DRILLING needed.....simple bolt on installation. I like the cover, it seems well made, the only thing I don't like about it is that the bows show a bit, and the cover does flap a bit more than I think it should at highway speeds, but again, was very easy to install, and would be very easy to completely remove from the truck and leaves no holes or cut marks or anything......like I said...clamps slide right into factory bed rails and tighten down with a drill.

As mentioned above, the bolts for this tonneau slides into the bed rail.

If you still want to make use of the tie downs, use the 4 tie downs to hold the tonneau rail, using only 2 of the 6 bolts that come with the tonneau. You'll then end up with 4 immovable, but usable, tie downs.

FYI.. I ended up returning my Lund tonneau and buying an Access Lorado.

You can still use your 4 moveable tie-downs

I have my tie-downs installed as well as the tonneau clamps....you're just more limited on where you can move the bed rail tie-downs to.

A2Mich, on your Lund cover, don't the tonneau rails install over the bed rail, where the tie downs snap to?

topdec....

Yes, the tonneau rails sit on top of the bed rails on mine. I have the 4 tie downs from Toyota that twist and lock into the tie down rail tracks. Maybe we're confusing terms here, or we have different tie downs. My tonneau rails sit on the very top of the bed. Our trucks have the tie down rails inside the front of the bed and down along the sides (below the bed rail caps). My lund clamps slide into the tie down rail in the various locations. I use the factory Toyota twist and lock tie downs that you insert into the tie down rails (the same rails that the tonneau cover clamps are installed in). I simply insert the factory tie down cleat where I want it, twist the cleat, and tighten down the screw/ratchet mechanism. I may have to take some photos so that you and Rehabber understand what I'm talking about....I wonder if Lund may have changed the clamping method and we have two different ways of installing the cover? If you're not sure what I'm describing, let me know, and I can take some photos and post them this weekend...

We probably were talking about different products. Here's a link to a previous discussion where I attached photos.

topdec...

Sorry I haven't been able to take any photos yet, but your cover is mounted differently than mine. You bed cover rails sit directly on top of the metal tie down rails in the bed. My tonneau rail sit on top of the plastic bed caps, so I have more room between the tie down rail and the tonneau rails....now I see why you can't use the tie down rail..sorry. I was assuming (and we all know what happens next) that your tonneau clamped on the same way as mine does. I have the snap cover. Does your cover seem somewhat loose? Not the rails. but the vinyl itself?

Ah, you got the snap-on. I'm sorry for the confusion as well.

Mine was probably loose. But that cover could be tightened up using a screwdriver/wrench. My new one, the Acces Lorado, can be hand-tightened.
