ls1 taco

If you could buy a taco with a ls1 in it would you buy it and how much would you pay

the reason I ask is because me and a good friend are thinking about building a 08 base access cab taco and Putin a corvette ls1 in it with 375hp then building them to sell

No. I bought a Toyota mainly for the engine... they last.

That said, I'll probably be dropping an LS1 (eventually twin turbo) in my 280z :droll:

I've seen and LS1 in an RX-7 and in a rock buggy, not in a tacoma. I've seen a 2JZ engine in a first gen.

Would you build the truck for speed? I assume not for off roading?

No....

Because I already have an LS1 in our garage.
I wouldn't put an LS1 in a tacoma unless I was extremely bored, extremely intelligent on how to do it, and a lot of money to burn.

Seriously...you'd never make a profit trying to sell them.

Calculate all the costs involved ...I'll bet the costs to swap an LS1 into a tacoma (including all transmission & axle upgrades needed, time, labor, & parts), you could probably buy a used corvette for that amount.

Why a LS1? If you are going to spend that kind of time and money, you might as well put a LS6 into the truck. A much better engine with quite a bit more potential. Actually, screw both of them, just go for the gold and put a LS7 in it. And forget the selling part, keep it.

Like Janster mentioned, you'll never see a dime of profit in a build like this. You might as well fire up the BBQ pit if profit is your goal.

Not that it would be any easier or faster, but I think it would look cooler with the 5.7L from tundra in it. Lol Just for the fact that it would still be a toyota engine. But I dought you could make much profite off of that either after the costs to make it work.

You would not happen to know a gentleman named Dan running around with a bad ass chevy V8 in a 280Z would you?
It is super nice and the install looks factory.

Many many years ago, there was a Toyo 4x4 around here with a small block chevy in it. The tailgate read Toylet.

Check out this Honda Civic - it's called "Civette"
The guy put an LS1 and the entire corvette drivetrain in a Honda Civic.
I think he had both 'wrecked' cars sitting around and decided to combine them. Pretty damn neat to see someone even daring enough to do it and it's pretty bad-ass.

there is no way in hell i would put a chevy motor in such a high quality truck.. that would cut the value in half. there is a reason this is the #1 selling mid size truck.. QUALITY... you stick anything chevy in it you might as well as give it away when you sell it.

Resale value?

Ripping out the original engine & drivetrain is gonna ruin the resale value no matter what manufacturer you put in it.

OK STANG88! I'll bet if they said the 5.4L Supercharged V8 (500hp) of the GT500 you'd probably jump up and down and say how much of a good idea it is.

I wouldn't put a high performance engine in a new anything. I would like to put a high performance motor in maybe an older 1st gen Tacoma. That would be badass.

I was thinking the same thing. If I wanted to cram a V8 in there, it would be that engine.
