Seat belt dings driving me crazy

anyone know the code (or even if there is one) for the seat belt alerts?

OK, I give. Here it is. BTW you guys are no fun :

1) Turn the Car 'ON', but do not start the engine (Leave your foot off the brake). Cycle your trip reset knob until it reads ODO. Turn the ignition back off. Wait a couple of seconds.
2) Make sure seat belt is not fastened
3) Turn the ignition back on, do not start the car (Leave you foot off the break) As soon as you see everything light up, press and hold the trip reset knob and do a long 12 second count.
4) Keep your finger on the trip reset knob. Fasten your seat belt, as soon as you fasten your seat belt, you should see the ODO display go from XXXX miles to "b-on". At that time take your finger off the trip reset knob and press it again. It should cycle to "b-off". You should be all set and turn the ignition off and unfasten your seat belt.


Passenger side instuction are similar, but slightly different(this requires two people to initialize, according to step 4.)
1. Turn the ignition switch on (without starting car)
2. Press the ODO/TRIP switch until the odometer displays "ODO"
3. Turn the ignition switch off
4. Turn the ignition switch on while depressing the break pedal
5. Sit in the front passenger seat. Press ODO/TRIP switch immediately (within 6 seconds after turning the power switch ON) and hold it down for 10 seconds or more.
6. Continue holding the ODO/TRIP switch and fasten the front passenger's seat belt.
7. Check that the odometer displays either "b-on" or "b-off" (it will be "b-on")
8. Press the ODO/TRIP button to change the display to "b-off".
9. Turn the ignition switch off.
10. Turn the ignition switch on while depressing the brake pedal.
11. Check that no buzzer sounds when setting on the front passenger seat.

 

I didn't need anyone in the passenger seat to do both in one go.

yeha you don't have to do anything different for the passenger side. they are both disabled if you follow the first 4 steps

I'm keeping it. I have this moronic friend who has trouble to remember to put his seat belt on, he think he is to cool for it or something. He's a fucking idiot and someday he will crash through the window and smash his head like a pumpkin instead of just living another day.

Anyways... It reminds me to remind his dumb fucking ass to buckle up.

Sorry for the profanity, but it gets on my nerves how some people are dumb enough to not buckle up, it is such a simple thing that WILL save your life in a crash, even a minor one.

No offense to all you none buckling up people. Actually, get offended, i don't care. It's just dumb.

 

would you know if these are the same instructions for a 2005 corolla? gfs car drives me insane with that beeping nonsense

 

I don't know about you guys, but when I am doing 10 miles an hour across the deer lease, I don't want to hear the dinging. I am also not too worried about getting hit by a car in the middle of a 1200 acre lease.

That being said, when I am on the road, I always have on my seatbelt and don't need a dinger to remind me to put it on.

 

Yea, me disabling it has nothing to do with not wearing it, either. I always wear mine. But driving around the campground where I go in the summer I don't need to hear the dinging all the time and I don't need to wear my seat belt going 10mph haha.

 

I my case it wasn't me who was not wearing a seat belt, but my laptop in the passenger seat. It is just heavy enough to trip the sensor.

Thank you for he write up but, I am not having any success on my 05.' ODO does not go to XXXX. I also saw that most of you have 08's and up and assuming that it will not work on 05's. Anyone else having the same problem?

 

My 05 doesn't have a seatbelt dinger

I drive mine to school, and I keep my bookbag in the passenger seat.... that ding gets annoying EVERY SINGLE MORNING!

 

No one said they did not want to buckle up when you posted? I disabled mine because it is annoying, but I do wear by seatbelt.

 

i bought my truck new, and never had the dinging before, i guess my truck is just smart enough to trust me to put the belt on.
