the amount of lift, shouldn't effect the wheels... i mean you COULD run stock 265/75/16s with the 6 inch lift.

Yea the wheel diameter should not effect the lift size.

I'm not sure, but I don't think there were that many changes on the 10s, so probably.

I think the new lift knuckles provided with the 6" lifts make it necessary to run a 17"+ wheel.

Hmm. I'll have to look into that Eric. But I thought that you could still run the 16" wheels with the 6" Lift.

Correct. The spindles will interfere with wheels smaller than 17"

my friend runs 16" rims with his 6" pro comp stage 1 lift... he runs 16x10 rock crawlers with a 4.5" bs and a 2" wheel spacer... i know it probably isnʻt really safe but he has done it...

The 6" lift will require that you install your steering heim joint on top, rather than below the mounting point of the spindle.

This is why you need the additional clearance of the 17" wheels. (Also like Chris stated the spindles are designed a bit differently.)

But yes! If you choose to run spacers then you can use the 16" wheels.

The money you spend on spacers for your 16's you might as well get some new wheels and make the truck look mean as hell.
