Gone through about 6 tanks. Started at 19mpg, highest has been 21mpg and the lowest tank was 18 mpg. Mixed highway/city/various 2-3 mile trips errands.

I did 600 highway miles and only managed 19mpg. However I then realized my tires were at 20 psi since I bought the truck. wtf?

So I filled them up to 30 psi, last two tanks were 18 mpg and 19 mpg. =/

thats horrible also cause you got the base not even the prerunner  try going to 35 psi and remember your trucks still pretty new, it has like a couple thousand mile break in period. my prerunners first tank got if i remember correctly 275 city driving.

My first 4 tanks have all been 19mpg. Tried no-ethanol gas for 2 tanks and saw no difference. Not really worth the extra 25 cents/gallon.

So i just bought a used 05, 4.0L, and i am on my second tank, i filled up today got 295 miles on 17 gallons. Not that impressed, but my 97 taco got 18 as well so i am not surprised. This truck has 57000 on it, how are you guys getting over 350 miles a tank? Are you driving like 55mph or something?

I've broken 500 miles on a tank several times so far and never saw the low fuel light before refilling. :p I have just over 300 miles on the current tank and the fuel gauge is showing barely below the half-full mark.

I now have a 100-mile round-trip commute to work and take secondary highways where the speed limit is 55 MPH. When I'm easy on the throttle, shift around 2K-2.5K RPMs and cruise at 60-65 MPH, I get 28 MPG. That's on 87 octane regular unleaded too. Truck is bone stock with about 8K miles on it. Still running regular dino oil in it. I'm going to switch to synthetics soon in the engine, tranny, and diff. Might pick up another MPG or two. I'm also going to run a tank of 91-octane through it just to see if that makes any difference.

miles per tank is VERY relative, you want to compare miles per gallon. simply divide the number of miles driven by the gals you just filled up and then you can compare.

That's good to hear. I'll be doing a royal purple oil change in about 800 miles.

I usually can get something like 300 - 330 miles per tank with an average of 17 gallons per fill up. Miles per tank seems to drop when the cold weather starts to roll in.

I gotta figure out what you guys are doing. I am not a lead foot, as a matter of fact I am always getting tailgated cause I actually drive the speed limit. I don't have overly large tires on the truck (265/75R16). I don't get it.
