there was a post and i have spent the last 1/2 trying to find it but was the cleanest install of a cb ever
u think cobra makes a unit that is all in the mike, so no transmitter/reciever to mount anywhere, just the mike
and i don't think it was that expensive

Ive decided that I will probably get a single din aftermarket install unit for and aftermarket headunit....Then, with the extra space available, I should then have plenty of room to make a very clean looking instal for a CB. Not completley sure how it will all work out, and the mic might present some problems, but overall, Im confident that it can be done.

The Cobra will be the easiest to install because you can just mount the unit under the seat and clip the mike wherever you want.

I was thinking of getting one of these Cobras but where I want to mount the anttena, I would have to remove the entire bed liner to do it and it's just way to much of a hassle, at least looks like it would be to remove??? I don't want to mount it in the roof either.

So I have a new Midland 40 channel talkie rubber antenna with weather channels too that I never use, so I'm just going to pick up a cig adapter and keep it in the glove box, until I get bored enough someday to take the bed liner crap out.

I also have a umm export model (sounds better than illegal) mobile radio but I'd have to hack up the dash to do that, which I did to my current truck, so I'm going to use that one at home.

What do you mean by "bed liner"? These trucks have a plastic bed.... Not a plastic covered metal bed.

You mean those 6 really big alan or torx head bolts on the bottom don't release the plastic bottom?

The bed itself has to be metal. The black plastic thing should be removable??

No they attach to the frame.

It isn't the bed is made of the composite material.

I have my yaesu operator programmable two way radio mounted next to my right leg and no it doesn't get in my way, surprisingly. I was really quite surprised it doesn't get in my way but I use it every day and it also acts as a scanner.

No metal. That's what they mean by "composite bed". The bottom and sides are a fiberglass/plastic-like material.

Poke your head under the truck or look through a rear wheel well. You can see the ribs on the bottom of the bed. It looks like one big injection molded piece.

Why do you think people talk about these beds never rusting? There's nothing to rust! (aside from the occasional nut or bolt)

I have the Cobra Cobra 75WXST Remote CB & Weather Radio

It was unbelievably easy to install, and it is pretty much 2" long and fits under the seat. It took 45 minutes to install and everything's on the handset. Also I have the Wilson 500 antenna...works like a charm off-road in remote areas!
