TEK screw? Heck no - I say go with 1/4" lag bolts with fender washers.

I dropped off my truck yesterday for some warranty work and to get the harsh ride tsb approved.

They gave me a Camry to drive and when the lady sent the guy out to get it she told him to be sure and pull out the drivers side mat. So I guess that is the temporary solution they are using there.

I think if I was to go to a dealer and they drilled holes and threw on a zip tie... I would be livid. Heads would roll. Now these zip ties, are they DOT approved for safety?

I have cheapie mats from wal mart in my truck (they are kinda like the husky mats).... been in there since I brought it home. I am not using the clips and the mats do not move. If they should, I would re-adjust them. It's not rocket science... or is it?

I work at Chevy. You would not believe some of our recalls and tsb fixes. I think all manufacturers do some stupid stuff. This floor mat fix better be temporary. BTW, nobody is zip tying my floor mats to anything. The clips work perfect, my mats don't move at all.

I just bought a 2010 Tacoma about 2 weeks ago....when I have my mats cliped in to the floor clips, they end of the mats don't come that close to the gas peddle or the brake peddle. Am I missing something? I just dont see how they can get caught on the peddles.

I just noticed in my owner's manual that there is a warning to make sure your mats are installed correctly. I assumed this recall was to avoid legal problems, but that warning should take care of that. This recall is very strange. There must be more to it then we have heard so far.:notsure:

Gotta back BakoTruck here; the post by PR45 was WAY OUTTA LINE and it needs to be rectified. IF YOU CANT SAY SOMETHING CONSTRUCTIVE STAY OUT OF THE CONVERSATION. If a CHP officer, who drives for a living, cannot control an out-of-control car then who are you to bad-mouth him! Undoubtedly mistakes were made but to bad mouth a dead person the way you did is DESPICABLE!!! YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED!!!

I'm hearing it could've been the computer too. Based on "its what you don't know", there is several points to be made. Being a police officer is almost a distraction from the issue, especially if it revolves around what he didn't know, be it the computer or the 3 second button, what if it was Mario Andretti, or an engineer on toyotas design team. So to me " its what we dont know".... do we have a final answer as to what caused the w.o.t. situation yet. As far as i know floor mats are a scapegoat for now, and it could be the e-throttle.

First of all, if I make any trips to the dealer, I'm leaving my d/s mat home so they don't poke a hole in it. Also, why weren't the existing holes in the mat used?
