Question Sound Deadning

Has anyone here gone to the extreme of removing your seats, carpet, door pannels, etc and used any sound proofing products? If so, what brand would you reccommend?

Thanks!

I've used Dynamat on the area behind the back seats ( i have a double cab)
I mainly installed it so i wouldn't hear as much rattling from my subwoofer... It helped a lot. It pretty expensive though. ($20 for a roll about 4ft long)

I recommend ear plugs. They do a hell of a job for a fraction of the price!

a lot of people use a combination of RAAMmat and Ensolite. It can be purchased at www.raamaudio.com If you e-mail them and mention Toyota Nation they give a discount off of the rolls (around $10 off per roll.) I haven't done it because of the expense and time required.

I just bought RaamMat and Ensolite from Rick and he said It would be plenty to do a very thorough job on my DC.

Here's a cost breakdown:

2 rolls BXT RAAMmat 198.00
6 yards ensolite 59.70
3 cans adhesive 20.85
UPS ground 45.53
Total $324.08

I've been thinking about this but can't justify the price right now. Trying to think of a more inexpensive approach I came up with the idea of using ~1/8" foam rubber from the local fabric shop. It should do the same thing (maybe not quite as well) and cost a fraction of the price. Anyone have experience with this type of thing or think of any potential issues?

Meh I wouldn't risk it unless you can get some facts before doing it.....ripping up your interior and doing all this is a LOT of work. Not something you want to do twice.

For the folks that did all this...how long did it take you? If I'm going to spend a solid weekend doing this, I can afford $325 to do it the best way.

I'll be alot of work, but time I have. $$, not so much right now. I've competely gutted my vehicles in the past (not for the same purpose) and enjoy the time spent getting to know the machine.

That being said, I'd probably start off small and see how much of an impact it would make on an area such as door panels. From there, if it proves effective, I'd do the roof and corners, rear, then the floor (if I had the energy).

I've still got to go by the fabric store and see what they've got so I can research it's properties. My goal is to get this done for under $40 if I can.
