K & N air intake

Does anyone know how good the K&n air intake is for a 2006 Tacoma Dbl cab with a v6 4.0 L engine?? I would like to get one but wanted to see who had them and was it worth the money to spend on the air intake.. And if it is good then which model air intake should I go for?? Thanks for you help

Try searching "true cold air intake".. many threads about this one, and even myself had posted a thread like so.. some say stick with stock and use a drop in filter... others may have an AFE or TRD..

I've heard horror stories of people over oiling and the filter medium breaks apart and get's stucked into your engine. I've also heard that the k&n filter flows too fast and doesn't catch everything.

Plus its $250 for a k&n intake that will only increase mpg's by 1-2 and hp's by 3-4. It's mainly for looks and sound.

I have a k&n filter and hate it. It's a PITA to wash and wait for it to dry esp. Im switching back to paper when i do my next oil change.

its terrible on tacomas. my buddy had one on his tacoma and he always had problems with it sucking oil onto the mass airflow sensor. it wud always happen at some in opportune times. whe it wud happen all of a sudden his truck couldnt go over 25mph. wouldnt be better until he took it out and cleaned all the goo off the sensor. i have a trdintake on my 06 and absolutely love it. awesome quality.

I have never had a prob with my K&N 77 series. The only thing is that it makes me speed. The noise is great when you accelerate. I'm actually trying to sell my intake for extra cash. 225 shipped. Great condition. Check the buy and sell ad. I just bought a mac and need some funds to help pay off the rest of it.
