Tuffy Locking Bed Box Installed

I know many have opinions on this box as to it's expense ($182.00 TRDparts4u) and I debated it also, but I can only get so many things in the storage under the back seats (double cab) and the rear area behind the seats, I am also not a fan of a tool box for the bed with the short bed.

So I sprung for it, I can keep my receiver hitch tow bar, jumper cables and a bunch of other misc tools in there and they are safe, this is one tough box...

On the bench

I forgot if I went to the Home Depot or Lowes. I bought to locks w/matching keys. Then I just took out the knob and put in the new locks. I had to cut down the locking arm w/a dremel for a proper fit. The only other thing I had to do is keep tweeking the arm in a vise until the locking arm would close w/a nice tight fit. I love them. I don't have to worry about someone jacking my stuff. It took about 45 minutes for both of them. Hope this helps. Did not mean to mess-up the thread.

Looks good,
I just recieved mine monday. It was back ordered for about 2 months.
I put it in kind of late at night.
Little tough getting the lower stock bolts in with the torx heads.
If I was to do it again I would change them to allen head to make the install easier.

Not cheap but the stuff I want to store out there instead of the in the underseat location is not something I want stolen either so it was worth the money to me.

I did that to mine also before I bought this..I am thinking of moving my AC plug in the bed and putting it in the cab and putting another box where the AC plug would be...same size box as the other side fits..

Nice...do you have a pic of it open? I'm curious about whether it has more usable room inside than the factory box.

I bought one of these as soon as I got my 09. Not a cheap date but it is a great build quality. It also holds almost double what the stock cubbie holds, so it provides some decent, lockable storage outside the cab. I'm getting a little surface rust on the hinge where it opens and closes but that can be expected. Only where the metal rubs and the rest is still perfect after over a year.

Those bottom bolts did suck but I bought a set of allen style torx wrenches and that solved that problem.

That box looks larger than the original spot where it goes. Is there any cutting of the composite bed involved to make it fit?
