When you make comments like " I can tell you 99% of the time I can make it worse than it already is" & "Unless you copped an attitude and started giving me a hard time" it really makes it sound like you are one of those cops who uses his badge for a reason to screw with people. I dont know you, you may be a very nice guy, but the law is the law, I dont think its written anywhere that you decide if the guy is a dick & gets a ticket, or he showed me mad props so he walks scott free. I work in Healthcare I help people every day sometimes they are total assholes even though I am doing everything I can to help them, should I have the right to make it worse than it already is if they disrespect me for no reason. I agree most cops are good people who want to help but I have personally run into several who abuse their authority and the trust they been given by the public & that makes you all look bad.

I think it really depends on where you live. If you live in a small town w/ no crime - you're likely to not like the leo's. Big city, high crime - you'll most likely never get messed with as long as you're not committing the crime. I used to live in Ventura County, and got pulled over and harassed ALL THE TIME. I had a CHP circle my car on the freeway looking for a reason to pull me over, then got me because I had a strip of tint on my front windshield. lame. He even told me "I'm not gonna give you a ticket, it just gave me a reason to check you out".

Since I've moved to the San Fernando valley - I haven't been stopped or harassed ONCE.

Back to the OP... personally, I don't care for all the fancy lightning.

thats pretty much how it works

tickets are at the officers discretion

he doesnt HAVE to give you a citation for every violation he finds, but should you give him a hard time he can start writing tickets for everything if he chooses

Ding Ding...You sir are the winner. Tickets are at officers discretion.

Lets say for example you are drunk in public, if you give me a hard time and start acting a fool then you are going straight to jail but if your friend is equally as drunk but is not giving me a hard time, Im gonna tell him to kick rocks while you get a free ride in a police car.

And Tegdog, when you have someone in the hospital that is giving you a hard time i bet you don't wait on them hand and foot as you would someone that is nice to you. I worked in a hospital prior to LE...i know how it goes.

Same with retail, if you have a person complaining that is logical and treating you with respect, they will get further than someone who is cussing you out.

People forget that LE is a job just like any other...you get better service when you treat people the way you want to be treated.

Fact of matter is that i'm not going to write everyone i pull over because their headlight is out, do you realize how full the court system would be? However if i pull someone over that has a headlight out and is driving on a suspended license, they will be getting 2 tickets. Just because someone is respectful, doesn't mean they will get out of a ticket, but if they had 2 lights out on the vehicle i can ticket for each one, if they are nice and didn't know they were out i'm just gonna tell them to make sure to get it fixed. There is alot more to LE than the public thinks. Just leave that to us, everything we do is for a reason. If i wrote everyone for every BS charge I lose credibility in court, we're selective on what we stand infront of judge about. Just because I CAN, doesn't mean I WILL.
