Don't waste your hard earned money on one. After owning 7 Toyota's, I have never ran into any problems!....Belive it when they say these trucks can go 200,000 miles with out any major problems!

i think the extended warranty is like picking the color of your truck !
it is a personal choice
if you want to that is great, if you don't want one that is your choice
they go up to 100K miles and 7 years and the online one i used was about 2/3 rds of what the "only for today deal" was at my dealer !!

i figured the cost and if my car is overnight i have no wheels, and no longer do extensive maintenance on my truck .
so i consider the 30 cents a day great sleep insurance
covers about all except plastic and rubber
i do not buy extended contracts on other things like electronics or appliances but they do not cost as much as my truck either
and any dealer is good for any work required! you get a card and your vin is in toyota's computer so any questions and the dealer can call .

i am not a gambler and only time will tell but ask the folks here that have problems and were out of warranty what it cost them
one good computer coad could cost about 1/2 of what the contract cost ! ( check the cost of a o2 sensor is ;-D

NO, I have never used it and the vehicle has 800 miles on it. But I will take the car in in two weeks, well before the first service because the driver door speaker (tweeter) cover has just fallen off and the omnipresent engine tick from the driver's side.

I've heard all the responses to the and the fixes. Just want to hear what they'll say.

Yes, I will post the outcome of the visit here.

I got it because I'm an inherently very paranoid person and figure better to have and not need than to need and not have.

Maybe I should have thought of it a little harder, my 4 LO won't engage, I called the dealer and will plan a appointment, but it sounds like it's coming out of my pocket.

I mailed the info that is required to Troy last week and he just called me yesteday. I should have something in the mail next week from Toyota reference this extended warranty purchase. It is the Platinum Warranty with no deductable. It is the 7yr. 100K package deal. Check out this link that shows you what is covered. If you look at the cost to have work done at the stealership, you are crazy not to get something like this plan and if you look at what is covered and how much it would be to repair/replace that item you will regret not having a little added insurance. IMO

i don't know if it has been mentioned in this topic yet

but you have 36 months or 36k miles to get the extended warranty
so you don't have to rush into it !

That is correct! BUT you only have up to 36K or 36 months to purchase this extended warranty. I am at 30K now so I went ahead and did it before I forgot. The nice thing about a Toyota extended warranty is that there is no deductable and no calls have to be made to a 3rd party warranty person to get permission to conduct a major repair job.

Old thread, I know... but has anybody contacted Troy (see the TN thread linked above) recently for an extended warranty? I'm thinking of getting one b/c my truck is almost 3 years old, but I'd like to get a good deal. I emailed the guy two weeks ago but haven't heard back.

If anybody knows of others who give good deals on the warranties, let me know. I want a 7-yr, 75k mile one.

I just recently contacted him and got the current cost of the 6 & 7 year 100k warranty with $0 deductible. It did take him a bit to contact me back but being I am in no hurry I wasnt worried. I did reply to all with a follow up email and got a response right back. Good luck!

That makes me feel better. I'm not in a HUGE rush, either. I just don't have as much patience as I probably should.

Care to share how much he quoted for those warranties? Feel free to PM if you don't want to post.

The only thing that that I have tried to get repaired by the extended warranty was the rear suspension TSB that I found out about on here when I was at 40,000 miles. The extended warranty said NO. What did I pay for then?

That sucks! I was under the impression that TSBs would be covered on trucks with extended warranties. Is this not the case???
