Can I Run This Electric Impact w/ My Outlet?

Can I run this Craftsman 1/2" electric impact wrench with the power outlet in the bed of my truck if it is set to 400W? The only draw specification I can find about it is that it has a 7.5A motor.

I looked online to convert amps to watts and found this formula;
Watts = Amps x Voltage

Would it be 12V or 110V to use in this equation? If its 12 I might be ok since 12 x 7.5 = 90W. 110 x 7.5 = 825W

What would happen if I ran this thing? I want it but its only good to me if I can run it off my truck for my mobile maintenance business.

It will be at 110 V.
Unless you have the impact completely maxed out you should stay under your 400 watts.
If you are trying to do some 175 Ft.Lbs bolts it might kick the breaker.

If you are using it to change wheels break the nuts with a breaker bar first and use the impact to spin them on or off.

I use a 18v. Dewalt battery impact to change wheels at the track on my other truck and it works fine.

 

I doubt you'll be able to. It's 110V AC power...You'll blow the fuse with very little use.

 

I'll bet it aint gonna work. It doesn't reeally run my drill properly and that's only 6A.

 

ide say no.that outlet is a joke imo.400 watts isnt nothing.

 

If it does not run a drill motor rated at 6 amps I will stand corrected and say the impact will not work as well.
I was thinking at 400 it would be able to handle standard loads on an impact.

I'll go with that, it won't run my shop vac either. You would think if they're going to put one in they'd but a decent size one in to run a basic power tool. Instead about the only thing this is good for is an air mattress inflator pump.

 

No it will not work. It is 120v ac power it is rated for a max load of 400watts which is 3.3 amps max. It will run a drop light or two recharge a computer small flat screen tv and maybe a dvd player.

I'm looking at upgrading mine to a 1600watt which will run most tools for trail use it will not run a welder though.

 

whats involved to upgrade it?

The only thing I been able to use in the outlet so far was to charge my batteries for my combo kits and drills... and even then it takes a long time...

ummmmmmm.havent figured that out yet.

 

Mine's pushed a sawzall without a problem...but I don't know the wattage/amperage on it.

 

How about a small compressor to air up a mattress or to power a trouble light or run a radio or charge up a cell phone/laptop or.....
