Hi, I have decided to get a Tacoma truck.. something between 2006-2009. Crew Cab, V6, Automotive. I would like to get one with a tow package and probably a TRD pack, but I am having a hard time figuring out what TRD package included what, in each year. I am in Canada, but am looking at US trucks too, if there is a difference there.

Does anyone know of a chart or source for this info other than searching and assembling bits here and there?

Anything I should be on the look out for when checking these trucks out?

    Thanks

Look at this Spec sheet for TRD OFF ROAD. It will tell ya what comes with TRD.

    Alot of options vary.

The tow package isn't really part of either TRD package, but some regions always order TRD trucks with the tow package.

Basically from 2005-2008 it was like this (consider all this stuff for a 4x4 model):

    TRD Offroad:

    Bilstein Shocks
Wider A/T tires with premium 16" wheels
Locking rear differential (<---- this is the big star of the Offroad package, and will cost you a pretty penny to add one aftermarket)
SR5 package (can read about this elsewhere)
    TRD sticker
    Sport Seats w/ graphite interior
    compass/temp display
    400 Watt Bed Outlet
(and probably a few other little things)

    TRD Sport:

    Bilstein Shocks
17" Wheels with all weather tires
    Mechanical limited slip differential
    TRD sticker
    Sport seats w/ graphite interior
    compass/temp display
Sr5 package (except with color matched mirrors, door handles, rear bumper/grille and the addition of a fake hood scoop)
    400 Watt Bed Outlet

Now with the 2009s and up its a bit different...

    TRD Offroad:

    Bilstein Shocks
Wider A/T tires with premium 16" wheels (Only on Offroad)
Down Hill Decent Assist & Hill Start Assist (Maybe an option pre '09? not sure) (Only on Offroad)
    SR5 package
    TRD sticker
    Sport Seats w/ graphite interior
    compass/temp display
Locking rear diff. w/ A-LSD (electronic limited slip diff.) (Only on Offroad)
Steering wheel controls (an option on pre '09)
Back up camera (not available pre '09)
A-TRAC system on 4x4 models (not available pre '09) (Only on Offroad)
traction control and stability control standard (an option pre '09)
front left/right, side, and curtain air bags standard (an option on some years pre '09)
Color matched satellite radio antenna (not available pre '09)
    400 Watt Bed Outlet

    TRD Sport:

    Bilstein Shocks
17" wheels w/ all weather tires (Only on Sport)
SR5 package (with color matched mirrors, door handles, rear bumper, and grill w/ foe hood scoop) (Only on Sport)
    TRD sticker
    Sport Seats w/ graphite interior
    compass/temp display
Open differential w/ A-LSD (electronic limited slip diff.) (not available pre-'09)
Steering wheel controls (an option on pre '09)
Back up camera (not available pre '09)
traction control and stability control standard (an option pre '09)
front left/right, side, and curtain air bags standard (an option on some years pre '09)
Color matched satellite radio antenna (not available pre '09)
    400 Watt Bed Outlet

I'm sure there are a few other things I missed but thats the jest of it.

There are a few other differences between the Sport and Offroad too. The Offroad has a smaller stabilizer bar for increased articulation. Sport has linear front springs where the Offroad has progressive. etc. etc.

As far as options included in the packages though thats about it above.

Nice to know, was it standard with the TRD package or an option?

Thanks guys, that helps alot. The Tow package thing was really getting me confused, but knowing some regions ordered it stock that make sense.

So for those of you with TRD is it worth it, or would you be just as happy with the SR5?

I like having the locker and all the touches. But I intend to keep this vehicle till it breaks or I die of old age, so I made sure I got all the nick nacks.
