Gas Mileage

I'm brand new to this web site and I just purchased an 07 Tacoma crew cab 4.0 6 cylinder long bed and was just curious about the kind of mileage anybody is getting on theirs. I'm getting around 17 to 18 mpg. with about 500 miles on the truck.

I have a 2007 2.7L, and I am getting about 23-24 MPG in town right now.

Sounds like I have the same truck (I have the prerunner [2wd]) and we have been getting 18.5 mpg.

 

Mine is only getting 13-14 MPG. Don't know why but thats it.

 

I'm around 23-24 mpg right now. 2wd automatic 4cyl.

 

I have run almost three tanks of gas through my new truck and got 17.4 mpg on the last tank......ALL city driving though. I have just over 800 miles on my 2007 4.0 double cab. I have not had it on the highway yet. Man, that puppy will hit 70 mph in a blink!

Just got 20 mpg dead even on our 4x4 Access cab 2.7 liter 4 cylinder.Mostly around town
Currently about 2000 miles on it.

My FJ Cruiser with the V6 6Speed manual tranny has been getting 16 so I am really happy with 20 mpg.

Still not sure why Toyota felt the need to make the FJ Cruiser full time AWD with the manual transmission. I am sure the mileage would be better if it was part time 4wd

 

Im getting 17MPG on a new 07 4.0 4x4, thats the first 3 tanks through it, and all freeway driving 70-75mph.....not to impressive considering my other car a 96' 4x4 yukon 5.7 gets 16 on the freeway.

 

i'm getting 23-25mpg in city and 30 on the highway at 70mph, 98 taco 2.4ltr,cold air intake k&n cleaner, catback exhaust. mileage depends on driving style. easy acceleration will get you better mileage.

 

I need to get mine out on the highway. I think I will take it to San Antonio this weekend. It needs a good long easy drive before its first oil change... We shall see how that goes.

 

3.5" lift and 33x12.5 tires 2010 with v6 6 speed with 78k ... 15-16mpg ... drive pretty conservatively (60% back roads/highway-40% stop n go) ... is that fairly average???

About the same specs except I'm an automatic. I get around that. Maybe 17 or 18 for highway driving.

Seems 2nd gens have been getting consistent gas mileage over the years. 16 17 mpgs here with 33's

 

I get a rather painful 13-14 mpg.

 

20.5 in summer and 19.5 in winter here. I drive mostly hwy at 65-75. That was with the OEM BFG ATs that weigh in about 49 lbs. I just put ST Maxxs on it and suspect that they may have cost me a little bit in MPGs. Some sites listed the weight on the Coopers at 49 but according to a few people on here who contacted Cooper they are 53.

 

Almost 2 years in now and at 17.3. Best is 22.3 (before lift and tires) and worst was 15.2. Been averaging right around 17 since lift and tires 265/70/17 Cooper AT/3's. Steady mix of driving - about 50/50 highway and city. Better MPG's in summer. Relatively heavy foot and 65-75 on highways. I've been lighter on the go pedal since lift and tires to help though.

I think the 15.2 was an anomaly or I effed up the math. I use MPG for free in my iphone and punch in the gallons and trip reading on fill ups. Can't say I'm thrilled but it's a truck and knew what I was getting into. I cringe at some of these sub 14 numbers but understand they come from added weight and probably 285's in most cases.

 

I drive around 45k a year and each state is a little different. The more windy it is the mpg takes a hit. The road compound that is used in each state is different. This will change 4 mpg for me. I'm very lucky to live in a state that gives me the best mpg. Oh, never use cruse control if you're worried about mpg. At least that's my experience. Make sure you are factoring tire size if you changed. A stock setup is not 100% accurate either. I run a scan gauge 2 and in the past calculated each tank till I got it right. I have a 2014 dclb 2.5" lift, 285s and hit 19 to 20 average. Your foot makes a huge difference too. Driving a stock truck and driving a truck with bigger tires is like going from gas to diesel. There is a learning curve. My two cents.
