diff breather but no snorkel?

did the diff breather mod last night! Came out great. even watched the little video on the official diff breather thread.

here is my Q:

a diff breather is good and all but with a diff breather alone, you still can't go threw 3 feet of water because of the exhaust right?

i would think you'd need a snorkel? so i don't see why you should even do the diff breather mod unless you have a snorkel right?

maybe i'm wrong. (i hope i am) cuase i just did the breather mod

You can go over your exhaust with water, just don't shut your vehicle off.

 

really..how deep? and then why do people get snorkels?

 

People get snorkels for their air intakes. You just don't want to go so deep that you suck water into your air intake. Thats when you can really do some damage.

 

Snorkel is usually on the intake. You better do some serious water proofing if your going greater than 3 ft.

 

so with a rear diff breather mod 3 feet of water (or at least up to the bottom of the door) is okay?

 

Yup you should be fine.

 

What about a temp exhaust snorkel kit to keep in the truck ( a few large hose clamps, and some tubing. just run it up to the tailgate?

anyone do this? you can just slap if on for a water crossing and take it off!

up to your door should be okay, still braver then i am. over 3 feet on the other hand would not be smart at all.. you would most likely swamp your intake and hydro lock your motor

 

any DIY home made air intake snorkels?
