High idle?

Is it normal for the 2008 Tacoma MT to take off without using the gas pedal?I can't kill the engine from a dead stop.I don't even use the gas,just let the clutch out and away it goes.It will drive for blocks this way.I've owned MT for the last 20 yrs.,this can't be right?Dealership told me they can't adjust the idle?

i had a MT 97 taco, and it never did, if i would try to let out the clutch w/ no gas it would either stall out or id have to let it out super slow (causing tons of rubbing wear) ive never driven the newer MT tacos though

but my buddies wrangler is MT and he can let the clutch out in first gear and it keeps him rolling, over bumps and everything, never needing to give gas..

when you say you can go for blocks like this, are you saying that you shift up without ever touching the gas?

and when you are in neutral, or clutch depressed, whats your rpm's reading at?

 

my 6spd wont do that, it would die.

 

I didn't try to upshift,the truck will just keep going forward in 1st gear without using the gas pedal.In neutral or with the clutch in while moving rpm's at about 1000-1200.When I come to a complete stop about 750 rpm. weird stuff

 

so youre saying you can take off from a dead stop without ever touching the gas? and the truck holds at 1200 rpms while in gear and moving, but 750 stopped and in nuetral?

well, i dont really know that much about mechanical issues and stuff like that, but i would just take it into toyota and tell them to fix that shit...thats covered in warranty...

 

Gonna have to..My 2000 Tacoma ran great, no problems ever..I guess the newer trucks are all computer controlled, no cable throttle..Thank god for new technology

 

I know this is an old thread but my truck does the same thing. Did this ever get straighten out or is it normal?
