Reverse Clank or Click Sound is this normal?

Is it normal to always hear a mild clank or click sound comming from the rear wheels when you start to apply the brakes while backing into a parking spot? Also, every time I back down my driveway and then put it into drive theres always a soft rrrrrrrr sound is this also normal? I'm driving a 2007 automatic, 2WD Prerunner with 52,000 miles on it. Thanks to anyone who replys.

I have this noise too. It always happens upon the first application of the brakes.

 

I have this noise as well, and took it to the dealer. They said it was the caliper and the brake rotor/pad shifting around. They replaced the caliper, rotor and pads on both sides. That was back in january and the noise/problem came back in the spring. I've grown just to ignore it. I also told them about the tsb about the rear leafs, and they just greased them instead of replacing them. Oh well, i plan on getting dakars anyway. The dealer is DCH Toyota in Freehold,NJ.

 

Mine does it. I wouldnt worry about it. As long as the truck comes to a stop.

 

No mine does the same thing and I've heard other Tacos doing it. Believe its the brake calipers

Yep - calipers w/ loose pads - the other thing you may hear, with the same root cause, is rattling of the pads as you go over bumps.

 

I appreciate all your comments and will now look at these issues as normal and not waste my money at the stealership. Thanks again!
