That's the one i had read!! I tried different things in the search and couldn't find it!! Good lookin out!! I might just have to drive up to El Cajon to grab a pair of those D-rings. $21 isn't bad. I only need two anyway.

I might try this mod this weekend...

Most dealers don't stock the D-Rings but can get them within 24 hours via their overnight parts delivery service.

Also, When I did my install I found it was easy to pop out the cubby inserts and stick my arm in there. It was tight but I was able to install my D-Rings without too much effort. Toyota recommends working from below, by removing the fender-well liner which is a hell of a lot more work and may take two people.

You can try what I did and just pop out the cubby insert. See my post here about that.

Also, if you want to see the Toyota Factory D-Ring Install instructions in detail look this post here.

    Enjoy.

    secret stuff.
I have a long bed, so I have the ring up on the side wall instead of the actual wheel well like the short bed pic. I was suggesting and am planning installing another pair of rings on the actual downward sloping part towards the rear of the truck on the wheel well, not the top. If I were needing attachments to hold a quad, I would totally go the bed bolt route for sure.

I posted here where I got some OG D-rings, trdparts4u.com may even have them back in stock by now ince the # part/supplier change.

This is a pretty simple mod. I bought the surplus D-rings, 5 for $10, and the are very strong. I made 3" square backing plates from 1/8" steel plates and drilled a whole through the center. Then sanded, primed, and painted them to prevent rust. I bought some grade 5 hardware from my local store, probably overkill, but that's what they sell. Make sure your backing plates will sit flat against the bed at the spot where you want your rings. Then drill a hole and assemble everything.

This is the back side. It is above the rear tire, flat against the bedside.
