Leveling kit advice

I've pretty much settled on the fact that I am getting a 2.5 inch leveling kit, Moto Metal 957 BLK, and I think Mickey Thompson tires. I am sticking with the 17 inch wheel and was wondering what you guys opinion is on a 265 vs 285 tire. I want the 285 but don't want rub. The guy at the shop said the 2.5 level should keep me totally clear but I though I'd seek out some more advice. Also do you folks recommend a rear add a leaf with this set-up.

 

Bilstien 5100's are your best bet. Set the front to 2.5 and get the 2 inch ALL form toytec!

 

I'll look into that. I am newbie at the lift thing. I am just looking for 2.5-3 inches with new wheels and tires. The guy at the local shop said a leveling kit would do the trick and would give me enough safe for 285's to not rub. He also said I probably wouldn't need a leaf in back. I hate the idea of having a crappy lift to save a couple of bucks but I also just bought a new truck. The dealer said my waranty would not be affected by a spacer lift.

 

285s will rub. I have a 3" lift and they still rub when turning (backing up).

I would go with Bilstein 5100s from Downsouth Motorsports (on the forum) over a spacer lift. The ride is improved over the stock shocks and they'll be compatible should you decide later you want to add a coil-over kit. They run about $300 for all four. Less if you just do the fronts (only the fronts will lift). Bilsteins have 4 settings: 0.0 (stock), 0.85, 1.75 and 2.5. The 1.75 setting should level the truck.

 

285's will rub on the cab mounts if you wheel. on day to day city driving mine dont rub
