Vibration while accelerating

Recently bought a 2006 Tacoma PreRunner TR5 (84K mileage). It was a leased vehicle, one owner. Great vehicle but for a vibration while accelerating from about 20 mph on up. It coasts smooth at any speed. I've read other posts here about vibration issues and it seems this is a fairly common problem. The truck has not been modified with suspension mods, etc. Tires are Michelin LTX m/s. No evidence of uneven wear. No off road abuse. Any suggestions or recommendations?

Thanks in advance

U-joint, and while you're at it check your rear trans seal. There is a good chance that it's leaking, get the updated seal not the original.
Here is the link about the rear transmission seal : http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/2nd...8-new-tsb.html

mine does it too, usually its because my tires are struggling to grab the road though

i recently noticed a vibration accelerating and breaking... its more when i accelerate with a slightly heave foot... but as soon as it reaches like 20mph it goes away.... i looked underneath and its not the transmission leak as mentioned above... could it be something to do with the drive shaft maybe ?? i had a 5 series and it would do the same and with time it got worst ... comes out it needed a new drive shaft .... ASGARD any news from the mechanic on what it was for your truck ?

^^ Yes, it turned out to be the front u-joint. The transmission leak doesn't cause the vibration, it is just a leak but you have to take down the driveshaft to fix both problems. A bad u-joint causes the vibration, you have 3 on the Tacoma.

Grab the drive shaft and see if there is rotational play in it. You will need to jack the rear end up, have the truck in nuetral, and chaulk the front wheels to do this.

The OEM u-joint costs $60 (part number : 04371‑04030) , but I read a post where a member bought an aftermarket one at Autozone for $15.

My vibration was much harsher, the whole truck was shaking. Maybe it's not your u-joint. Could be your engine mounts, tires.

Highky unlikely it's the shaft. As Asgard said, have you had the tires balanced lately? A bad u-joint can cause pretty bad vibs.
