My climate gets cold in the winter, even though I am in the desert. Might I suggest to y'all a nice remote start setup - it really helps, I am loving mine.

My 08 has the worst heating system of any vehicle that I have ever owned, when it is in the 40's out I go out and start my truck and then come back in and fill my thermos then head off to work.
work is 12 miles away and with traffic it takes just under 1/2 hour and the heat selector never gets turned down from high until I am just pulling in the gate.
My 92 4 Runner would cook your feet within a couple miles from home if you left it on high.
My scangauge shows water temp gets up too 184 within a mile or so from the house so I have no clue as too why the heater has never put out much heat

That does not matter because the thermostat is closed until it's warmed to about 200 degrees. That means all that cold water is in the radiator and not the engine till the thermostat opens. That's how a cooling system works.

Compared to my 98 4Runner the HVAC system in the Tacoma sucks. In 10 degee weather by the time I would get on the interestate in them orning the 4Runner would have hot air coming out the vents and the A/C would cool down the care so much quicker. The heat in the 4Runner was def alot hotter. The Tacoma on the other hand doesn't warm up till I've been on the expressway for about 5 min (only when really cold) and with the heat on high once its hot doesn't get nearly as hot as the 4Runner. I would have to agree atleast with my truck it takes a while to heat up and the heat to me doesn't get as hot as other cars I have had.

I have no problems here in MA. Less time than my subaru and WAY less time than my 69 Olds Cutlass.

This is the first Toyota I've owned and it heats up much faster than any Ford or Chevy I've had.I was surprised at how fast it warms up.

I live in Ohio and my tacoma warms up pretty quickly when compared to my old v10 superduty. Usually the larger engine, the slower it heats up.

Although, what I have noticed is the heat is just poor in general in both my new tacoma and my old one.

My Tacoma warms up in a fraction of the time that my iron-block car does. Thankfully the car has heated seats to help on those cold mornings.

I was quite happy with the warm up time on the truck.

Get a remote car starter, and start it 5-10 minutes before your ready to leave.

I just start it and roll... About 2-3 blocks later, it's up to temp and putting out heat :)

Yeah, i am here in Montana and I have also noticed the same thing... My '03 tacoma and even my '05 altima warmed up faster than my new truck... It really does take FOREVER compared to other vehicles I have had... didn't help that it was -8 degrees F this morning when I left the house haha

    Too few to list.
If you're looking and judging just the coolant temp gauge, it does seem to take a while. Mine doesn't reach the halfway mark (operating temp) until about 5 miles or a little less than 10 minutes but the air does blow warm in a few minutes but does not blow hotter air until normal operating temp is achieved.

Must b a v6 thing. Got more than I need plenty quick. Never on hi temp longer than it takes to feel it get warm within coupla minutes driving from house with no warmup then gets cut back to half or less. Also have to crack window to not suffocate. If it was any hotter shit would melt.
