Pretty sure that's an OK practice. They use speed sensing cameras where I live. There is a camera associated with a radar unit, once you trip it (it's set for 10mph over the limit), the camera flashes at ya and about 4 or 5 weeks later you get a nice ticket in the mail.

So long as the all the usual stuff was in order, radar op. certificate, calibration, etc etc... You're probably stuck. I'm not a cop, but I've gotten plenty of tickets and seen a few courtroom TV shows.

I doubt you'll get mailed a speeding ticket...if they didn't catch you- You are probably alright.

They can if they can positively identify you/your car I suppose they could get you with the ticket down the road...but I doubt it'll happen.

Sounds like a speed trap. He clocks you, units up the road pull you over. You'll be fine.

Plus, even if you did get the ticket, if it's your first and you have a good record there's always a chance you could say "not guilty" and go to court for it, it could be dropped. Depends how much you'd want to fight it.

AZ has speed cameras. In Tucson they send 'em by certified mail and enough people here have been rejecting the certified mail. Out in the old west if you can avoid the eventual process server, you just avoided a speeding/red light ticket.

You'll be ok though, as Kingston said, at least go to court and talk to the judge. I had my first speeding ticket cut in half. From $120 to $65 :). That is, if you get the ticket at all.

not sure about your state...but tickets can be mailed as long as they have your license plate. the odds of it being done are slim to none, but in some states it is possible.

Typical speed trap. Sounds like they just ran out of cops to pull people over. So you got lucky there.

Anyways, in WA state, every 7 years, u get what's called a defered finding. So say you get your 1st speeding ticket. You enter not guilty and go to court. When you go to court, you ask for a deferred finding.

You pay your ticket fee, and you go on probation for 6-12months. If you're good, the ticket gets dropped from your record.

I'm Not a cop. Here in Portland the police use radar vans, they display your speed and will mail you a ticket, red light cameras too for running the light, they mail them.

I have never seen a cruiser with a gun mail a ticket, anywhere. But who knows check local practices.
