Turbo 2TR, Who's done it?

Was just curious as to who's turbo'd the 05+ 4cyl? I'm about to dive in on a project and would love to see how others have done it. I have lots of ideas but would like to see what has worked for others.

Would probably be nice if you supered it, maybe good power for low range crawling, but I think turbo would be pointless when you can get a V6.

I've played with superchargers and turbos. Yes a turbo lacks the low end but more than makes up for it in mid range and top end. Oh and regarding the 6cyl, a turbo'd 4cyl will smoke a V6 9 times out of 10.

Not what I said. Let me clarify, here is what I said "Oh and regarding the 6cyl, a turbo'd 4cyl will smoke a V6 9 times out of 10.".

I guess I should have been a little more clear, a turbo'd 4cyl will smoke a NATURALLY ASPIRATED V6.

Sorry

wow..... thank god we have captain obvious.

My point was, you're probably going to spend the same amount of money on building a turbo kit, why not just do a swap?

Yeah stay on subject. I think a turbo would be more beneficial for a 4cl than a supercharger. Go for it. I'm not sure if anyone makes a kit but they are not that hard to piece together. All you need basically is a turbo and intercooler. You can fab the pipe up yourself. And you will need to upgrade the fuel system and get engine managment

It would be interesting to see someone piece togeather a system for the 2TR and make it work properly. The actual turbo and intercooler, along with all the piping is the easy part. It is the fuel and engine management that can be very difficult to get just right.

Haha I love the "all you need is..." statements. My Honda Accord I had before the taco was turbo'ed. It was a custom fabbed setup I pieced together. At the end of the day there is a lot of stuff you have to buy. Lets see if I can remember everything I had to buy...

Turbo, Intercooler, have the IC piping fabbed, custom intake pipe, battery relo, have a custom exhaust fabbed, custom manifold fabbed, custom downpipe, tapped oil pan for drain line, oil feed line, T for oil feed line, BOV (blow off valve), 450 cc injectors, AEM adjustable fuel pressure regulator, fuel pressure guage, oil pressure guage, EGT exhuast gas temp guage, colder sparkplugs, Wideband 02 sensor kit, chipped eprom ecu, eprom burner, oil catch can, dyno time to tune it, countless hours of street tuning to get the car running enough to drive to the dyno. hmm...i'm sure I left out some other random stuff.

I ended up spending around 3500-4000 when it was all said and done. It was a blast to drive, I put around 65k miles on that setup, but if I had to do a turbo car again. FACTORY TURBO is all I can say.

Why not just sell your truck and buy a v6 taco?

Why are you trying to make your truck fast, its a truck. If you wanna go fast do yourself a favor and buy a car that is designed to go fast and will push you back in your seat safely without having to worry about wrecking.

Sorry just my opinion coming from someone who has been down this road.

that also seems on the conservative side to me! haha

also you can go the sts turbo route, but having a turbo thats not in the engine bay could lead to problems..sucking shit up, cant go in water, blah blah

I know this died about as quick as it started, but I thought I would post up a vid. Currently only the 2nd 05+ 4cyl that I have seen that has been turbo'd.. I still have some work to do but as you can see, it's been fired up!
