The Japanese manufacturers have pioneered the trim and convenience packages to the point where you can only buy packages and not specific options(not including dealer installed options). This cuts down on manufacturing costs and simplifies the price structure for the consumer. Now if the big three could figure out how to implement this maybe they would be stronger financially.

i would just want the roll down back window for double cabs like the tundras and 4runners and a factory navi would be nice and not to mention leather

Pretty much a lot of what everyone said.

    • Factory leather (in black of course). I'd even settle for black cloth (maybe even with an offset like the WRX's)
    • Manual transfer case
    • Fixing all previous known issues (AAL TSB, lurching, transmission issues from throwout bearings to calibration, weak tail gates, ect)
    • Electronic lock with manual key that is tied into the factory system on the tailgate
    • The old tail lights 05-08 (new ones suck imo)
    • HID/xenon from the factory
    • An antenna that stays locked down lulz
    • Navigation option (perhaps work a deal with trails.com or something to get offroad/ohv maps on the TRD Off-Road)
    • Every interior control should be illuminated from 4x4 switch to windows to cruise control.... that's just blatantly obvious toyota.
    • A useful inverter in the TRD packages with a cabin jack or two.
    • Lighting for the cargo area
    • A little light in the engine bay would be nice...
    • gas struts for the hood from the factory
    • Leather steering wheel that's not made with cheap ass leather that's a few microns thick (yes I'm still mad about my cracked one they won't replace)
    • rubber interior floors
    • no cloth on the arm wrests. serious.
    • a quiet but nice beep on remote lock (may be in 09+ already dunno)
    • If they're going to keep the damn electronic auto lsd and traction systems, a switch that uses the key or something (akin to the pass airbag) to fully disable those systems without holding a button that may or may not re-engauge above 30mph... I hate those systems, a lot of people do... allow the driver to make the choice on how they are most comfortable to control the vehicle.

There's probably more but that's my list. Most is nitpicky but hey. Most can be solved with simple mods as well... but this is a wish list right? :D

I haven't a clue, so will say none.
I just picked up a 2001 Tacoma V6 4x4 last week. The only thing I miss on it versus my Silverado 2500HD Duramax is the leather seats and outside temp gage. :D

Yes, I could do without carpet. And would love heated exterior mirrors. Ok,,,remote start on it would be nice too.
We head out to the deer stands by 5:30 AM and too many times it is all covered in ice.

I am sure there are other things, but I am happy so far.

My 08 Sport is a luxury truck compared to my 96 LX. The only "Luxurious" thing I had in the LX was A/C and a locking gas cap cover. I bought the LX without power windows or power door locks because I tried to save a few bucks.
    I would have liked;
    1. heated mirrors
    2. bed light
    3. more tie downs
    4. a power sliding rear window

And so why is this a problem? A well optioned Chevy or Ford truck or SUV would be $45K to $50K. I think the Tacoma is one of the best values available. It still would be with another $4K to $8K in options.

I would like to see you able to get the same things in the tacoma as you can in the new 4runner. Those things are tight, and it would basically be all package deals so you could still get a bare bones truck. But if your in your truck alot and appreaciate the nice stuff you should be able to get it.

One thing I would LOVE to have that my bother has in tahoe and caddy is air conditioned seats. Living in miami your balls get hot driving around, and those seats feel AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just a couple things for an ole man.
    1. Keyless entry on a base model prerunner
    2. Rear Disc brakes
    3. more confortable steering wheel adjustment.

I really don't want to argue my points, just a few little things to make me really smile.

    • Cold weather package (heated seats, mirrors, washer nozzles)
    • Delete option for sliding rear window. Can't reach it in a DC and don't need it anyway. A rear window defroster would be nice.
    • simplified scangauge readouts - instant/average-tank/average-resettable MPG at a minimum.
    • bed lighting (like all of my Fords from '83 on have had.)
    • Full illumination of dash controls. (Should be standard, not an option!)
    • Tailgate lock integrated with other power locks (and uses a key as well.)
    • line in or better yet, USB connection for an MP3 player integrated into the radio. Why does it take auto manufacturers so long to catch up with technology?

Meh, the sticker was higher than that on my 09. It's not what I paid, obviously, but sticker was higher.

You can get a fully loaded taco over $40k American (sticker price) easily with current options. With all this other stuff people are talking about, mid to high 40s wouldn't be difficult at all.

I agree with a lot of the list. I would want:

    MPG computer
    Leather + Power Seats
    Heated Mirrors
(heated/automatic wipers make for expensive windshield replacements so i dont miss them that much)
    Maybe a better stereo
    Sunroof??

A roll down rear window like obn the tundra would be tits. Include that in the limited OR edition with a long bed and AC'd-leather seates and I'll pay extra for it.

$40,000 is way tooooo much for a Tacoma. I wouldn't do it. I couldn't afford it. If I could, the next question is, is would I? The answer, probably not. Id rather get a BMW 335i with some extras.

Well, it all depends on what you want in the vehicle. Good luck towing or wheeling with a BMW, right?

A fully loaded 2010 DC 4x4 with TRD Offroad, the Tow Package, and tricked out with all the TRD bolt-ons (Cold Air, Exhaust, Supercharger) is already close to 40k sticker. Start adding tube steps, bed mat, bed extender, etc. and you're going to crest 40k without much trouble.
