Would you be interested in a better equipped Tacoma?

There are definitely more things I like about my Tacoma than there are things that I dislike. The few things that I dislike, however, will keep me from buying another one. I realize that what I’m looking for is not for everyone. Basically, what I would like is a luxury option for the Tacoma. I want a Daily Driver with all the comforts of a high end sedan in a Tacoma. Would this be of interest to anyone else?

Until one becomes available, I’ll just keep the Tacoma I have until I roll the wheels off it. Toyota is not likely to be to concerned about what I want but perhaps there would be strength in numbers. What are the things that you’d be looking for in your next Tacoma? In order of importance to me, here’s a start on my list:

- All interior controls on the dash and doors can be clearly seen in the dark!
- Heated side view mirrors.
- Sound deadening material in the roof, floor, all doors and panels.
- 6 way power seats.
- A digital display that provides basic performance metrics like engine/trans temps, miles to empty, average MPG, instant MPG, etc.
- Power tailgate lock integrated into the power door locks.
- Heated seats.
- A leather interior option.
- An integrated stereo/navigation system.

 

I would like the sound deadning, but I don't need any of that other stuff.

 

I don't care for everything else on this list except for leather. Also, I'd be happy with just a plain old tailgate lock, but powered one would be cool too.

 

A cold weather package with heated seats and mirrors.

 

Vinyl floor FTW. That's the one thing I like about Fords...

I don't care about any of that.

Therefore, I'm going to be THAT guy: It's a truck, not a BMW. I simply don't care about those luxury items in my truck.

 

Power seats and digital display mainly, but everything would be nice.

 

You should have bought an avalanche.....

i would probably only change the ifs to solid with coils.

 

1.Hight adjustment on seats ( more comfortable seats )
2.Leather seats.
3.Rear window automatic roll down like the tundra and 4 runner.
4. A digital display that provides basic performance metrics like engine/trans temps, miles to empty, average MPG, instant MPG, etc.
5.Tailgate open sideways and downwards like a ridgeliner....
6. Engine could sound a little better... ( no ticking)

despite of all this ..i think if even i want to change to another truck it will still be a toyota truck for a fact.... ( unless BMW or Landrover decides to make a truck)

 

My vote, although I would like instant mpg readings, and miles left on tank. Other than that, I say keep them simple, it makes them so easy to work on.

 

I too would like power seats, some kind of display for mpg and an in dash Nav

 

I'm not sure whether they have done this since 2008 model; however, I would like an illuminated 4WD control. As mention above, an mpg guage and other scangauge type electronics would be nice.

 

It's a truck. I use it as a truck. Luxury options don't interest me. More tie-downs, stronger tailgate, longer bed, heated mirrors, and no carpet does

I want to shift into 4WD with a *shifter*, not a little knob.

I don't want to worry about cleaning carpeted floors and seats (thank god for WeatherTech and Wet Okole...)

Mechanical systems are just more durable than electronic ones.

I wouldn't mind an oil/trans temp gauge somewhere in the cluster. It's a truck. Give me features that help me do work SON, and leave the rest for sedans.

Maybe a miles til empty reading/mpg reading. That's about all I want to change.

 

It's interesting to see what others look for in a truck. All the suggestions makes sense. Some people not wanting carpet, for example, makes alot of sense. It's all about lifestyle.

I've driven a big SUV for years and after 90K miles it still looks like new. I built an addition on my house, for example, and every run to the dump included my carefully loading scrape and crap into the back of my SUV. Then it would take me 2 hours to clean the back of the SUV. Putting 2X4's in my wifes sedan wouldn't work out real well. I'm not interested in a BMW. A BMW sedan wouldn't solve my problem or I would have bought one.

The Tacoma is great. It's full size and safe, get's 22 mpg as a daily driver (vs 14 mpg for my SUV), has a back seat, is 4X4 (for winter driving), and has a bed that I can throw stuff in and when I'm done it hose down in 5 minutes or less. My brother has the Chevy version of an Avalanche and gets 14 mpg on a good day. If I wanted an Avalanche I would have bought one. Like I said, it's all a matter of lifestyle.

I work on my cars. I fully understand that to some, mechanical devices make life easier than electronics. Fortunately, I don't have a problem with either. I've got a garage queen that the combination of electronics and mechanical systems allow me to break every speed law in the country going into 2nd gear (and I still have 4 more after that). Electronics are the reason that the same car can runs an 11.7 sec 1/4 mile, pull off the racetrack and put in a CD in, turn the AC on, and get 25 MPG on the ride home. It's all a matter of lifestyle. I guess I like my cake and to be able to eat it too.
