The last 2 days during my vacation I made:
    - a basket for the bed of the truck that mounts to the factory tie down rails.
    - a mounting plate for a Viair 450C compressor
    - and mounted my 2nd sPOD The Source for this weekends wiring project.

    Pretty productive vacation so far...

    so this is it...decision time...

either dakars or AAL in the rear
    with either
5100's rear and 5100's in front with either eibachs or 885x's
    OR
885x's with OME 90000 struts in front and OME nitro in rear...

the battle between bilstein and OME continues lol

    thoughts?

Are you going to put a bumper and/or winch up front? Are you going to haul weight in the bed/camper shell/rack, etc...?

If you're going to do both of those, I recommend full OME setup with 886x's and Dakars. If you're not, the Bilstein setup (with 885x's) would be sufficient with an AAL.

no plate bumper and no "major" hauling, just have a hard tonneau cover but that's about it. sounds like 885x's with 5100's all around and AAL will be perfect! maybe some LC UCA's also lol
how much do the 885's give if the 5100's are set to 0? ( i have the stock '05 3 leaf pack leafs) suggestions on which AAL to get and how much?

With 885x's, the Bilstein's have to be set to 0''. They will give you approximately 2.5'' - 3'' of lift. (Depends on what model Tacoma you have, Sports will get about 3'' and Off Roads will get about 2.5'') If you have the non-TSB leaf pack (3 leafs), I think the Toytec 2'' AAL is what you want. (Someone else chime in here if I'm wrong)

Any blue or red lights can be mistaken for emergency vehicles and are illegal to have on a normal civilian vehicle. Be careful with green too since it is usually associated with the forestry service (at least it was a while ago)

have to decide on mounting the electric transfer case or opting for the manual fj conversion...deciding that will also decide if I run the 4wd ecu+wiring or look into the RST ADD mod or ARB air locker...tough decisions

I don't know how often this happens, but I recently had an AAL snap and fall out. Was driving around with loose U-bolts on one side without realizing it.

So I did the AAL, then had to go new leafs. So if I had to do it again I would just go with the leafs. Never know when you'll need to help a buddy haul fire wood, or tow a truck. ;)
