What Have You Done To Your 2nd Gen Tacoma Today?

The point of a lift is not JUST to clear bigger tires. The point of a lift is to be able to increase travel, increase clearance for obstacles, and to increase tire size. A 35" tire with no lift would be far less effective off road than a 33" tire on a 3" lift. Heck, it'd be less effective than a 265 tire on a 2" lift.

 

ENOUGH WITH ALL THE DAMN TALK ABOUT IT RUNNING 285'S OR WHATEVER THE HELL SIZE TIRES SOMEONE WANTS TO RUN WITH NO LIFT! TAKE IT TO THE WHEEL AND TIRE SECTION IF YOU FEEL THE NEED TO DISCUSS IT.

You can gain room for up travel by cutting and a lift does not help axel clearance.. That's the only thing I want to have more clearance and I'm trying to keep as low of a center of gravity as possible .. I still don't understand why you keep talking about something you seem to know very little about.. I'm saying this nicely not trying to start shit even though I know I sound like a dick.

If you know you sound like a dick you can try to rewrite your sentence. That little "Backspace" button on your keyboard is pretty effective.

Also, I'm not talking about something I know "very little about." Sure, you can cut the shit out of your truck and fit 33's. Hell, you can remove all of your body panels and probably run 37's if you want. However, my comments are based on what it would take to have a functioning vehicle without chopping the shit out of it.

Also, axle clearance isn't the only thing that matters. Approach and departure angles, as well as high centering are all improved via a lift.

You can screw your truck up however you see fit, I really don't give a damn. For the amount of work you're going to have to do in order to avoid really negligible changes in COG, I think it's pointless. You disagree. Good for you. maybe you should lower your truck, get fiberglass wide body fenders, and run 37's. How sick-gnarly-awesome would that be? Super low COG and big tires! I'm done arguing with you about this.

Completed my first long road-trip in the Taco. 1,994 miles roundtrip from Georgia to Connecticut and back. Averaged 20.9 mpg loaded with 3 adults and a bed full of luggage, golf clubs, and whatnot. Truck ran great and am happy with the mpg's based on the load and speeds averaging between 70 - 80 mph most of the time. Drove straight through up and back stopping only for gas/bathroom - just shy of 15 hours each way.

 

Issue resolved!

 

I used it as as a puppy taxi to go get food..
