I'm all for innovation and the diy mentality, but were you aware of a pretty cheap solution

    Yes
I had one similar before and it never stayed in place. The way the bedsides are angled it always slipped off.

I got one from Canadian Tire over a year ago, paid $50.00. It stays in place now. When I first got it, it didn't stay in place(slamming on the brakes). I figured that this was a better solution then to bungie everything like my friend had suggested.

Traded the 2015 TRD Pro 6spd Supercharged on a PowerWagon and could not be happier. My 2011 Tacoma with the TX Baja package (Added by me) is still treating me great. My 1985 Toyota never skips a beat.
Today I got my coverking ballistic tactical seat covers in the mail.

Installed them.. pretty easy, I like them. The ballistic material is nice and slick and seems to be tough.

Unfortunately the driver side cover came with a small cut on the side bolster. I called cverking who asked me to email a picture. So i emailed two pictures and I am waiting for the follow up.

I fought back against frame rot and rust cancer.

I removed the factory skid plates (tin cans) :D and cleaned the undercarriage really well and began to paint. Doing it in sections because it's such a pain in the ass. Today was day two.

So just got back from the dealership to find out what a minor squeaking sound in my DRIVER side front was...turns out, it's just the wear indicator on brake pads with about 30% left on both sides...the kicker is...my PASSENGER side wheel bearing is no good! They had it on the lift and spun the tire and I heard it mildly grinding.

What was just a minor check turned out to be about a $1380 quote for new pads, rotors, wheel bearing (seals etc)...

I think I'll be talking to nj636 about the wheel bearing assembly he offers.

    any suggestions for brakes?

I'll be doing all the work myself because they quoted me about 4-5.5 hours of shop time... no thanks.

An awesome local member helped me with a gauge LED swap. And although we had some issues I love how it came out.

    Also installed OttoNavi stereo.

Pictures don't do it justice. Ottonavi is a very close match for stock colour when in the truck, and gauges are no where near as bright as they look.
