My engine ticking experience saga.....

So, like other threads I see here who have experienced the same. I too experienced a ticking from the driver side of the engine.

I never had a tick in my Honda. Just the valves happily ticking, but this was appropriate.

The Toyota tick was more pronounced while accelerating between 20-40 mph at a mild acceleration rate.

So, took it to Toyota, and as other threads they came to the same conclusion.

Everything within normal limits.

I suppose it's OK, but will just have to take their word on it. Heard about the silicone O ring trick, but also read it wasn't that which caused the tick.

Also heard about the thicker manifold, but that, that won't stop it either.

Oh well.

I had a ticking on my 07 v6 also.I tracked to the fan belt. The lamination came off and the belt started peeling and slapping the oil cooler lines. As I drove it would come and go due to it wearing away then peeling more off.Look at the entire belt it should be glossy.I only had about 5000 miles on it.

Wow, that's few miles for a part to be defective.

I will check though. Thank you for the suggestion.

I know one of the mechanics at Toyota of Dallas and he said it's due to plastic guide pieces for the timing chain. Nothing to worry about.

I had the ticking under heavy loads when accelerating but one of the mechanics in my unit said some cars have dipsticks that aren't secure and rattle when there's a lot of vibration.
