Because we all know what would be said if the Tacoma had the beefier boxed frame, and the Frontier had the un-boxed, flexy C-channel.

Ok so I am little confused as to why you posted picture and comments
1 Gen is boxed with exception the tail (like a 2 feet section)
Picture looks like frame got cracked and bend under the cab, in exact spot that rust issue on 1 gens had been a problem.
So again what was the point ... ??

This is an old thread, but I just couldn't resist.

I wanted a Unimog until I read this thread...considering that the newest 'mogs are designed to have torsional flexibility and make heavy use of C-Channel in the frame...

You realize load capacity does not equate to frame-strength, right? Load capacity has more to do with brake and spring rating.

    Hi everyone,

I'm a new owner of a 2008 Tacoma single cab w/standard bed. Anyone else hear 'pops' coming from the bed when your frame twists a little? I was told it was the combination of plastic and metal in these beds. Anyone know how to stop it? It's kind of annoying. I saw the tread topic and thought ........

Sounds like your bed bolts might be loose?

Miles has a thread somewhere about a supporting part of the plastic bed that wears down, allowing the bed to bounce because the bolts are no longer tight on it. The solution is to support the part that is worn with something abrasion resistant like a chunk of sidewall from an old tire.
