    Are the side windows designed so one could open them for ventilation while driving? Unlike a slide window or a smaller window it seems that this may not be ideal just by looking at the pictures.
    I like the looks of this topper better than their others.

    Yes you can drive with them open at any speed. I have my dog in there and comin all the way back to chicagoland from south dakota they were open and no problems at all. Just know if you drive down dusty roads the dust will load up in the bed.
