swiss cheesed (airbox)

has anyone swiss cheesed there airbox on there tacoma to get better air flow?

 

No, but some of the 1st gen guys do a "Deckplate Mod" to thier air box.

 

theres not really a place to do this on the 2nd gens. they are basicaly a cold air intake from the factory as they are drawing air from the fender/ outside the engine bay

 

what about cheddar?

 

if i can find a qualified mechanic, im going to get some speed holes installed on my hood.

I have a buddy with a ranger that was wanting to do somethign like this. he saw my deckplate and was interested but theres no place for that big of a hole. I couldnt tell him if itd work or not (the many little holes)

 

Best just to get an AFE dry filter to increase air flow. Really, you could install it yourself and it would look much nicer than drilling holes in your airbox.

 

One of our members has the trd CAI. He added a second tube going from the airbox to the front grill. He reported some cooler air temps going in. Seeing our intake is already a cai, why not try that and see. Add a drop afe for good meaures and you should be good to go.
