    A truck we are looking at was just in a minor incident where a guy backed into the front bumper and the owner said they would have to replace the entire bumper. I was wondering how much would I be looking to spend/take off of the asking price to fix this. I'll post up the damage here in a minute once I receive the picture.

    Looks like damage may be limited to the bumper cover, OEM part no. 5211904040, MSRP $231.63, which the dealer will be happy to paint for you for another couple hundred.

    Well the truck isn't mine yet, this just recently happened in a parking lot while the guy who actually owns it was inside somewhere. So i should be looking to spend like 500 or so on fixing the bumper?

    If
    (1) you have a decent independent paint/body shop in your area;
    (2) you buy the bumper cover online (~$165 + shipping); and
    (3) you don't mind replacing parts yourself; then
    I think $500 would likely cover it, even if you have some other parts involved. The other possibly damaged parts from a low-speed incident are primarily brackets, and they're either cheap (sorta) or easily bent back into functional shape.

    The cover is a simple job to remove and re-install. Probably the hardest part is removing/installing the fogs, the rest is all bolt/nut work lying on your back. If you're up for DIY work, the procedures are available as .pdf files at , near the bottom:
    R.M. 2006::Exterior: Front Bumper: Removal (Tacoma)
    R.M. 2006::Exterior: Front Bumper: Installation (Tacoma)

    The dealer will rape you for a couple hundred $$ to remove/install. You can easily justify telling the seller that $600 should cover parts/paint/labor and negotiate down to $500 if s/he balks.

    Why doesn't the seller get the other vehicle's owner to cover the repair cost?

    Well the other party is paying for it and the only thing keeping him from getting it fixed is the time of year unfortunately. That, and the fact that I am only going to be in the area for a couple more days makes me just want to do the fix myself. Plus he is very willing to just take the money off from the price. Just needed to know what I was getting into.

    Thank you for the responses, I am going to make an offer tomorrow and can't wait to finally get myself in a tacoma. Oh, I also have a question about the interior. About how "rare" is the leather interior option?

    When I went looking for my Tacoma, I ran across a few with leather interior. For every one I found with leather though, I bet I had to look at 100+ without.

    I looked at one with leather. Basically I think they had it done inhouse. Took the seats and just recovered with your color choice. They had heated seats the guy said.

    The guy says its OEM and he is the original owner. I think I will just ask for the money off and let the modding begin. Might as well start as soon as I get it since I'm gonna have this thing for a LONG time. Tomorrow is going to be a long but good day.

    Dealers generally have local guys that will do leather for you. I got some leather seats for my Z from Leatherseats.com (link is to seats for an '09 OR Access cab) and was really pleased with the quality, and how easy they were to install. I used HD zip ties instead of hog rings to install them.
