What do you mean by a "back spacing"? I want to get more of a triangular look to the vehicle, with a wide base( wheel to wheel) that slims up to the body. I would think that the back spacing would bring the rims in even more.
I am trying to get the 2007 to look somewhat like my 2002 in the picture..

I'm interested in the answer to this one too... been trying to wrap my brain around offset and backspacing and how it relates to the wheels being inside the wheel well further or out further. All I want is for the wheels to stick out a wee bit more than stock.

Stock backspacing is -4.5", I believe. It's a pretty straight-forward measurement. Take a rim and lay it on the ground, pretty-side down. Lay a straight-edge across the top of it, and measure from the straight-edge to the point where the rim contacts the truck. That's your backspacing.

A bigger number = wheels stick out farther. -3.5" rims will stick out an inch farther than -4.5" rims.

I'm pretty well into a second bottle of wine at this point so I hope that made sense. :D

Will this problem with the CV boot/joints still exist with the 3 inch lift on a 2wd Prerunner or just the 4WD?

Just the 4wd trucks. There are no cv joints on a pre-runner as there is no front drive axle, and the rear is a solid "live" axle.
