Just received TRD seat covers..have a question

I just received the Toyota TRD seat covers, however, I have an SR5 model.

I know there is a difference between seats, but how much difference between the base SR5 and the TRD sport seats?

I'd prefer the TRD seat cover because of the red "TRD" logo, however, I want the covers to fit nicely.

Any suggestions? I can easily return and get the correct covers, just looking for some friendly input.

I'm not an expert but I know the TRD seats have more side and lower support for sure. I'm not sure if the overall dimensions are similar or diffrent as well. Seing as they're diffrent fit, they probably won't work to well on base. However, you could go ahead and give it a shot Or get some Wet Okole's and put the Red TRD logo on those

Anybody else have a comment? I don't have side air bags so that shouldn't be an issue.

Will the TRD covers just not fit tightly on the SR5 seats? I could always try it out I guess...but it's damn cold outside right now.

 

U could try them and see if they fit to your liking.

I had the TRD covers (got them free from toyota)...didn't like them at all! The back and bottom rubber felt like cheap plastic when cold..and boy were they cold! I sold them and bought a full set of wet okole's...great investment, never second guessed it after I got them.

 

How cold is "Damn cold" in Texas? Just wondering.

 

Well, I'm stuck in KS right now visiting family and it's about 20 deg F with 2ft snow drifts! The truck is at home in Texas, driving the wife's mini-van so the roads should be alot of fun getting home.

 

I have those seat covers. I really think you need the correct seat because the fit is extremely tight. If you try them, use a hammer handle or something like that to force the tube between the seat and back to get the tightest fit possible. On my covers one had a solid pvc tube, and the other tube was 2 piece. I ended up cutting the solid one in half to be able to wedge it into the crack between the seat and the back...made the installation alot easier.

 

They will be baggy... thats what I heard

 

I'll put them on and see how they turn out. If they're baggy I'll take them back to the dealership and get the SR5 ones. Thanks for all the replies.

 

To get the tube through the seat top/bottom...Fold the seat forward, this creates a gap and it'll slide through easier.
