going to the dealer new years day...

    i finally decided on:

    Silver
    Double Cab
    Sport 4x4
    Auto Trans

why NOT the long bed? it's only 13" longer according to the specs, meaning it still fits in garage. costs only a few hundred more. looks a lot better, in my opinion.

can't imagine the gas mileage being different.

i know the off-road package isn't available with the long bed, but i'd think the long bed Sport would be more common, and the short bed Sport more rare, but it seems to be the other way around.

    is there someting i'm missing?

I love my long bed, though it is a bit harder to park.

Dunno :notsure: There are a lot of DC LB owners on here. I'm one of them.

The turning radius isn't quite as good with mine but it doesn't matter as I have more room in the bed for stuff. I can't see gas mileage being any different at all. I've been very pleased with mine.

I wish the DCLB bed was a bit longer but I'm still quite happy with the Long bed.

looks like great minds think alike!

it's just that i have been eye-ing tacomas all day every day for the last 4 months and the long-beds are rare!

and just look at any of the "tacomas by color" picture threads, almost all double-cabs are short beds.

    ?????????.

... and i can absolutely, positively tell you that the turning radius can't be worse than my other car, that little thing turns like a school bus!

(unless you mash the gas, of course) :)

Long bed DC is nice cause you have the best of both worlds. I went with the short bed because I want to wheel my truck decided that the Rear Locker and shorter wheelbase was better....I went from an 2007 Double Cab Long Bed Tundra to the Tacoma.

No offroad package, which is the most important consideration, and looks being a close second. The DCLB is too narrow to be as long as it is, resulting in a weiner-dog effect to the appearance.

I agree that the DC short bed looks better, but if it were me I'd get the long bed just for the extra bed length. I do more hauling of stuff in the bed than off roading, so it makes more sense for my needs. I also don't really know all of the differences between the offroad and the sport, but if you want a rear locker, you could always get an ARB.

EDIT: I'm not sure how well an ARB would work with the Electronic LSD, so that may cancel that out.

+1. If I need a 6ft bed, I have the bed extender. THe DC LB is the same lenght as a Chevy Avalance. It looks un-proportional

I love my longbed , put a builder's toolbox behind the cab of a short box and I would have been left with a 3 foot box , maybe enough room to haul a sawhorse or two to work . GO DCLB !!
