RCD 6 inch

Searched to see if this had been posted but didn't see anything on it...what do you guys think? About to order my fabtech in a week or so.

its only a 4.5 inch lift its better to just go 6inch if your going to do a drop bracket lift do pro comp or fabtech youll be happy

 

only 33s though.

why is this a waste?
i thought that six in. lifts were hard on our trucks?

is there something i dont know about?
i am asking because i have never seen this before

 

its not any harder than a 3inch lift its just the size of the tires that put a stress on the truck i have beat the hell out of my truck on the beach and rocks never had a problem the cv angles are better than a 3inch lift

 

i think the rcd will be my next lift

 

so your going to save up like 1500 and only get 4.5 inches of lift when you could get 6inches for the same price

 

I have been thinking about each lift. I cant decide what I want to do, 3", 4", 6", and the thing I dont like about the RCD is how low it still sits. I think it is the sway bars, not sure, but under the front doors it sits pretty low, I feel I would smash those. I am thinking about going with Fabtech too

 

good point. and just throwing it out there..last time i looked up the rcd kit it was like 2100. couple hundred more and you get either procomp or fabtech with coilovers.

 

ya im still trying to decide but i dont think 3'' is high enough so im going up for sure as soon as the snow is gone

 

The ground clearance will be the same with either 4" or 6" lifts because the drop bracket doesnt give you the lift....the bigger tyres in this case do.



They may look good but for offroading is it worth the increase centre of gravity?

Each to their own but let me explain it this way......

Considering factory tyre diameter on a Tacoma is 30.5" according to 245/75x16 on the Toyota.com website.


3" coilover lift and 33's will give you - 3" with the suspension and 1.25" from tyres for a total of 4.25" extra clearance than stock.

4.5" RCD kit and 33" tyres gives you - zero lift from suspension kit and 1.25" of lift from the tyres only.

6" drop bracket lift and 33" tyres gives you zero lift from the suspension kit and the same 1.25" of lift from the tyres

The only place the drop bracket lifts are better is ramp over angle and approach and departure angle...the latter depends of course on what barwork you have fitted.

I am a pussy when going over rocks and stuff, if I dont think I can make it, I will go around. Where I want the ground clearance is when I go over, say a waterbar. We have a lot of them wherever we wheel up here and I have not been able to get by some because of the 3" lift. So if you are going to keep the same ground clearance with each kit, IMO why wouldnt you just get the extra 2" of lift to help clear the frame. (I hope that makes sense)

 

well people since my thread sucked here it goes

So i contacted Down south motorsports (I highly recommend buying everything from them) and i am ordering my 4 inch RCD lift on monday WOOOT! while i was talking to them i did ask some questions about getting 6 inches out of the lift using 6 inch coilovers, and they told me

This is my question when i was ordering i asked them if they could give me a smaller block then the 4 inch one provided along with the AAL, what i want to know is how much lift i want in the rear to fix the rake. I know on Peejays truck its lifted 4 inches front and rear and the rake is still there so i am thinking to fix my rake i need a 23/4 to 3 inches in the rear but idk.

 

but if you run 6 inch coil-overs on the RCD lift with 35s in theory you could have 5.25 extra inches of clearance.

 

have you seen it done ?

 

downsouth motorsports contacted RCD and they said it can be done and they told me

but no i have never seen it done my self

 

ill let you try then sounds like a lot of money just to save a few inches if your right about it
